    Torque spec for weathered bolts

Huh, kinda getting weird in here. I'm not a mechanic or tech or anything. I try to use antiseize on most (used, possibly/ definitely weathered) factory bolts that are going back in. If stuff looks crusty or smooshed, or I have extra time I'll chase both sets of threads and blow them clean...

Does thread lock act as an anti-seize?

The last 3-4 small tubes of Loctite blue I've picked up have all looked like this. I have no idea why they don't make the whole damn tube blue- maybe Permatex trademarked it or something. At least it says "blue," in blue, on a red package...

Would you ever just throw away your extra tools?

We've got a box in a closet for Goodwill donations (clothes and kid stuff, mostly), and I just toss **** tools in there. It's not much, though, been working on not buying junk. I've found good tools and kitchen knives at Goodwill and Value Village (and other thrift shops) here, but the area's...

What would one use a 0-50 in/lb torque wrench for?

:lol_hitti Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

What would one use a 0-50 in/lb torque wrench for?

Ouch. What does "Main breaker: see main breaker" mean? :dunno:

    Pierce Arrow Tools

That makes perfect sense, I'd expect there to be a loose tool or two with remnants of orange paint in the thread already if it were common. Looks great on that tool set though.

    Pierce Arrow Tools

I found this one a couple weeks ago. It's the first Pierce- marked tool I've come across. Looks like a little bit of black paint survived through the decades, but no signs of orange.

    Teng vs. Tekton

Duh, makes sense, thanks Fed.

Nice tools! Anyone know why the combo wrench beams have holes in them? I didn't see it on their site...

Tool companies that have been run into the ground

Awww, that's a bummer. I wonder if that's just MSC making a choice, or a sign that SBD is killing Blackhawk. I like Blackhawk combo wrenches- they've got a fat rounded comfy beam (classic Stanley shape), come in satin finish, and aren't expensive. Same length as Cman RP's but feel better in...

Quality control of latest Snap On pliers?

I do now! :lol_hitti Given that Snap-on's ratchets, sockets, and wrenches are often described as looking like jewelry, I'm a little surprised their pliers look so rough... I learned something.

    Who Uses DOE Wrenches

Tappet and especially check nut wrenches are great because sometimes they're the only things that will fit. Almost always it's some oddball thing, and not something on a car. Aside from that, I hardly use open ends at all, let alone DOE's- only when I can't get a box end or socket on there...

Quality control of latest Snap On pliers?

Uh, were yours from ebay UK or off a truck or what? I'd expect better finish from Channellock, or Crescent, or any brand really, let alone Snap-on... and no, I don't own any Snap-on pliers. The pic on the Snap-on website isn't great, but the finish doesn't look bad at all.

    Who Made HD Husky

Yeah, it was before Sears. I bought a set of Husky wrenches around 2008 for work beaters and they were made overseas (don't remember if in Taiwan or China though). I'm not sure this is entirely correct. I don't recall when Home Depot started selling Husky tools, and don't know what New...

    Tools of Japan

Thanks for posting that. I recall reading that Germany (and most other countries) have different requirements for COO determination (because of course they do). I posted a Heyco 10mm combo wrench in the Tools From the Old World thread a while back that has Germany forged in... but KC Tool...
