let's see your craftsman block grinders

If you could keep only one, which would it be? The flat top says it has more amps, but I wonder if thats just the way it was measured and has no real difference. Both have lights and quench trays, I have one original stand. I'm leaning toward the round top. It will have grinding stones...

    Replacement air compressor wheel help

Hello, I recently acquired a Quincy 20 gallon air compressor and need replacement wheels. I ordered a few from a few sources and the quality all ****, really bad. I have an old devilbiss compressor tank and ended up taking the wheels off of it. Both the Quincy and the DeVilbiss wheels have...

Craftsman 115.6962, loose fit for bearings on shaft

So I reassembled the motor over the last couple days, what a PITA. Ended up redoing all the decrepit wiring and everything. Its running, but if it goes up in smoke one day I won't shed a tear. As far as the bearings go, and I'm re-using the original New Departure bearings, the rear bearing is...

    monarch 218

Most likely 1900-1930 range. Monarch was a lower end line (lighter in weight) made by Prentiss Vise Company, the higher end was the Prentiss Bulldog. They are unique and fairly sought after vises. Your picture is hard to see the details, but it appears as if the ledge that supports the slide...

Craftsman 115.6962, loose fit for bearings on shaft

I currently have this same motor taken apart on my bench. I decided to flush the bearings out and relube them, which appears to have worked ok, they seem smooth enough. What replacements did you get? The new numbers should be 87502 bearings. I suspect you may have gotten 6202 or something...

    Table Saw HP Downgrade?

You are in my area and I have been watching table saws for a while. $500 and less. I picked up a boice crane monomaster, which is like my bucket list saw, so i'm set. But I was eyeing up several unisaws, mostly in northern IL. I almost pulled the trigger on a 1966 unisaw, 3 phase, but I...

First Post: Morgan Chicago #50 Vise

Nice pickup. Looks like someone used it without jaw inserts. The new ones should cover most of it up.

Those jaws were cast in, supposed to be permanent. Looks like someone cut it out. You would have to make a custom jaw. Fulton history is out there, they're a relatively obscure brand and yours would date late 1900s to early 1920s if I recall. Nice vise, I like Fulton's and that is unique.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Hopefully this is better than measurements. I forgot I have a 5197 and a 594. Same jaws, shiny ones are 594 and rusty one is 5197. Tried both jaws on the 5197, one fit perfect the other was a little tall, I assume just not finished as much for the casting it went on. Screws are the same. Both...

    Wera Joker wrench..

I actually like them, despite not being a wera fan. I hate their handles on the screwdrivers and they try and carry that forward here. I prefer the non referring 180 offset ratcheting wrenches most of the time. I like the 12 point open end, it had come in handy. I've noticed it's really industry...
