I'm very happy with the Racedeck floor I put down this weekend. It is by far the most impressive thing I've done with the garage. Looks like a showroom now.

I'll check on the brand on mine. Just bought it - I think it's a Delonghi. Best dehumidifier I've had. It has a pump that can send the water up about 14 feet through a clear hose. I have that hose in a drain. No more emptying buckets - ever. The basement never felt so dry and no musty smell.

Update: I was supposed to leave the damaged unit out for pick-up but nobody ever told me (or the Garage Dealer customer service rep) that the new one was coming yesterday and not Friday so.... I got a second shelf that is also slightly dented. It is clear that the packaging is insufficent and...

I sent Griots a freindly e-mail asking about all this and advising them that while some people like their products we have questions about items such as this one where we want to know the differences between their fastener set v. Costco - if there is one. No response!

Well, they did not get back to me in 24 hours as promised but....when I called today I found that the problem was taken care of. A new item was already shipped and they will be taking back the damaged unit. Looks like Garage Dealer is a winner so far.

What did you find was the best way to cut the tile and the tabs off the edges for the peices going against the wall? If anyone who has installed the carpeted tiles as well has this information I would appreciate it. thanks

Thanks PA. That's the way I'm leaning. The odor is concntrated near the bike itself. I've run other eletrical items in the garage and probably thrown sparks as well. I think elevating it is probably a good thing anyway.

Thanks guys. JustBoosted has the right idea. Time for a Mythbusters experiment! Also, the manufactuer recommends not using the unit near gas appliances. And, indeed the spark could come from the switches as noted. Also, Charles is right. Local codes do specify water heaters to be elevated...

How true. I used to park the bike outside under some steps leading to the second floor of the place I was renting. So, I am grateful for the indoor spots.
