Weld or Braze Cracked Vise Nut?

115 pound Prentiss vise, was free from a buddy, now I know why, but not a big deal. Vise nut is cracked, on the fence between using Ni-Rod(easy pre heat) or brazing it. Anyone got any input on the + or - of either?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

This fell into my lap. A friend of mine who also goes to a ton of garage and estate sales stopped by and asked me if I wanted it. He did not want to ship it. I offered him some money, but he said he was clearing stuff out and I could have it. This is going to be my new bench vise. Prentiss 182...

    Lisle 91000 drill sharpener setup.

I have one of these too, not as fast as some of the newer fancy sharpeners, but it works great.

Lisle 91000 Drill Grinder Part Question, anyone have one of these?

I have one of these that is missing the magnetic gauge(noticed it is needed for setup in the instructions) Does anyone have one of these that can send a pic and give me the dimensions of this part/piece? Figure it can't be that hard to make.

It's a leather cup seal for the pump. Looks like one of those seals they use in the pump on a Coleman lantern, but the bore diameter is 7/16. Front pump design. I can cut a piston and bore style mold on the lathe to form a leather cup seal if I have to. The tutorials I have watched soak the...

Nice! I've bought around 5 lathes in the last two years. I keep finding a better more complete unit, and selling the previous ones. They are heavy and a pain to move, but they sure are handy when you need one.

Model 107, they don't make any parts for it.

I took it apart to see what was wrong with it. It has a leather cup seal that is 7/16" I can't find a replacement, Coleman lantern ones are too big, but I did find a tutorial on YouTube on how to make one. I'll put it on my shelf of things I think I might actually get around to fixing someday.

There was still a piece of it hanging on when I got it, and yes, it was Sears. I think this model is discontinued, as when I looked it up it has changed significantly.

For me it's mostly a hobby, but I've made some scores that netted me a nice pile of cash here and there. I repair and restore things for a living, so junking just fits right in there. When work is heavy, I don't do it at all, but when it slows down and I have free weekends, I'm out at 5AM. You...

First weekend out of the year. I slacked off pretty hard in the latter part of 2017, but my first weekend finds have got me all charged up. Hobart Handler 140, $100 No gas regulator, just the welder with a roll of flux core in it. I have a regulator that will work on it, so no biggie there...

I scored this torch setup this morning at someone doing their own estate sale for $10. I had to ask twice just to make sure I heard right. Works fine. Hoses are a little dry though. Old NCG gauges and welding & cutting torch, 4 tips for each. I don't need one, but a friend asked me a few weeks...

Nice score, while some of those eBay prices are on crack, I bet you could get an easy 350 to 400.

does anybody know what this is. i have no idea

That would sell on eBay for a hell of a lot more than scrap value. I could re-purpose that into a few tools easy. There are also junk artists who look for stuff like that. At current scrap prices, it can't be more than a few dollars.
