Crain Rail Anvil... whats wrong here?

Hello, Found a beautiful rail anvil at gs. I spent time working on the top surface, only to realize its pretty soft... bearing test leaves tiny marks. Any practical way to harden, or do i move on?

    Snap On YA-700 Disassembly

Trudged ahead and got it sized right. I mounted on my dp and sanded until the fit allows the ram weight to slip slowly on it's own. Tomorrow I'll get this piece back together. Thank you

    Snap On YA-700 Disassembly

I took your advice Hiball... worked! Cranked down good on the vise grips and tapped carefully with a finish hammer until out. :) Got some more cleanup now and will see how to reduce the size of the guide before reinstall. First thought is to sandwich the guide with some washers bolted tight...

    Snap On YA-700 Disassembly

Thank you both! I put my shoulder into it and got the ram out finally. :) ... but now I'm stuck here. The guide came off and is stuck in the cylinder, ouch! My plan is to remove the cylinder... since there's already some markings on it. Any other things to consider before I move ahead...

Two jacks... which do I keep?

Hi The knob simply unlocks the handle from engaging the three locking points within it's travel. Mine works but my brain forgets and will ease up on it just enough for it to kick in when it shouldn't. Thank you

Two jacks... which do I keep?

Okay, I hear ya... well, at least for now. I'm going to hold off until I get them both rebuilt. I'm actually looking forward to doing this myself, and found a how-to video on YT for the YA700 so I'll start with that one. Thank you for the support... oh, but my wife hates you all now. :)

Hello Recently started a thread on a newly acquired Hein Werner Model K... and yesterday I get this Snap-On. Both need rebuild kits, otherwise similar condition. I only need one for home use on my yukon, sierra and civic. The other will move on to someone else. So which would you pick...

First Made in USA Floor Jack...

Retro- I appreciate you checking into that... Thank you. Bottlecap- That makes sense. When testing it, I was able to get the know to 'stay' as I was raising the saddle, but not every time so wasn't sure. Thank you

First Made in USA Floor Jack...

I appreciate that... here's a pic of the handle. If yours does match, I do have a question re operation... should the control knob stay engaged on it's own when the release knob is closed and raising the saddle... or must it be manually held during operation? Hope that makes sense. Thank...
