2x8's for room over garage floor ???

I've had my wonderful garage built for a year or so. Did all the work myself with the help of some buddies. In the designing and quoting phase of the process I was talked into just ordering manufactured roof trusses from a local company. 12/12 pitch. Long story short, when I ordered them...

    Need expert metal fab help...

The strapping isn't a bad idea to get a design going but I think I'll be needing hundreds at a time. The original material I ordered was a blue tempered spring steel shim stock. That cracked

    Need expert metal fab help...

Ok, so what type of spring steel material can I get in sheets that is roughly 0.015"-0.02" thick? In researching, it seems like I also need a low carbon steel. Other types I've seen are stress resistant alloy steels?

    Need expert metal fab help...

NUTTSGT, I believe your right about the not using the proper metal. I'm going to try what bobadame said and cut it the other direction. I've got the material now so why not. I've also been talking with some work collogues and they said I needed a hi yield stainless leaf spring. That would...

    Need expert metal fab help...

As all of you are aware, there are some very talented metal fab guys on this board. I however am not one of them. I’m hoping the experts can lead me in the right direction. Recently, I came up with an idea for a specialty product that is made from aluminum. There are 2 pieces that can be...

Lets see your shop in a shipping container

So are other than 53' options in the US? What's typical price for a few? I also see that most are 8'6". Anything taller?

Starting a JD210 lawn tractor restoration

My son and I have had a blast making the thing. The 210 has been very easy to work with considering I have no idea what I'm doing. I know it goes against the purest who thought I should have restored the 210 to original, but oh well. It's something that hopefully many generations will enjoy...

    Steel Grated Tread

I'm in the planning stages for an exterior steel stair case to go up to the room over my garage. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tread supplier they have dealt with. There are a lot online, but want to make sure I deal with a reputable one. I would need around 12-15 treads. Thanks

Can't see in Sand Blast Cabinet

Thanks for the useful information. The Tractor Supply directions weren't very useful. I did have another type of fitting that came with the blasting cabinet. I now know that is a vacuum fitting. For media, I'm using the Blast/Glass 30-70 media from Northern. It looks like sand to me. The...

Can't see in Sand Blast Cabinet

I bought a table top sand blast cabinet from Tractor Supply and sand silica from Northern. From day 1, I can't see anything through the window. I'm also using the window protector covers. There's so much dust that I try to hold the pieces closed ot the window to see, it starts to eat up the...

    26x27 detached in So Cal

Like everyone else has said, amazing work. Seems like you know a lot about equipment, so what would you recommend for a beginner? I know it has a lot to do with the task, but it's for general welding (sheet metal, fab parts like what you do). Thanks

Starting a JD210 lawn tractor restoration

I'm actually going all green. I did use the Valspar Restoration Yellow on the front rims. Great stuff. I assembled this far so I could fab up the new gas tank and layout the top frame cover. This I will disassemble and continue painting.
