    Steel building...insulation

I put up house wrap (Tyvek) between the metal and the wood framing/gerts. it dramatically reduces the air flow. make sure you seal it up with the tape and such. Then I will insulate it with bats and sheetrock. this is what I did for the walls at least.

Granite Counters ... Too heavy for floor???

So I was/am planning on installing 3cm granite slab counters in our kitchen. We have gotten quotes then started to wonder about the weight causing issues. We have a manufactured home that is only a few years old. 2x6 Floor joists that are 16 O.C. and roughly 65 sq feet of counter space and...

LOL!:lol_hitti No idea what that was that I thought was the coating pealing up but it cleaned off. :monkey_po but it had been there for YEARS so gross! guess the good news is it wasn't the concrete sealant! Still no idea on the darker spots are. and waiting on the moisture test.

    Mystery Sealer on Concrete

So I ran out and got 2 pics this morning as I was leaving for work. When I took the photo, I got to looking at it closer, I am thinking it's actually something spilled on the concrete, not the sealer. So tonight I am going to attempt to clean it off. I also noticed as you can see in the...

    Mystery Sealer on Concrete

Inherited land with a shop. It was built ~15 years ago. Part of it looks like it was/is sealed. in that area there is a spot that looks like the sealant started to come up/off/peal this is in a very small area. I am wanting to finish this area of the shop, and was thinking the sealant needs to...

    Building a House Pros/Cons Advice.

Re: Building a House Pros/Cons Advie. The builder is everything ! He can make it painless or a living hell !!! That is so so so so true. I Kinda of had a house built a year ago "manufactured home" so it was much easier and less in-depth then a full stick built. I have always wanted to have...

    Garage Wall : Insulation ?

People will need more information to help. Where are you? (Climate Zone) Do you plan on heating it? Is it ventilated? Typically you have a moisture barrier on the outside (tyvek) this is not a vapor barrier. then you insulate. then you put your vapor barrier on the warm side. then your wall...

Got my slab poured, but couldn't keep it wet enough?

What a bummer, this thread just showed me one more way that my contractor cut corners and did only what would be ok or work not necessarily done right... Had I known that there is a method to this I would have gotten some poly or something for my slab heck I think I had enough or close to...

Oh boy... what should Be done if anything (crawlspace WAY WAY over vented)

Feeling much better the only thing under there that is not inside the insulation blanket that is under the house is a water line and it is insulated and I even put extra foam around it! So I think I am ok! Might get under there this weekend and double check the one pipe!:D

Oh boy... what should Be done if anything (crawlspace WAY WAY over vented)

Ok, So it was just brought to my attention that you are supposed to close the vents during winter in your crawlspace. Makes sense to me I am sure i can cut foam or something for that. Now the real problem I have.... I have a manufactured home. It's on a slab, has brick skirting on it with your...

    Old manhole cover...ideas?

I agree (or even in the shop) ... and I am a chick :p ! actually that would be pretty cool looking in the shop, not to mention an awesome conversation piece. Would be sick if you could figure out a way to turn it into an in-ground safe of some sort. I wouldn't put that in a house unless it fit...
