Garage Wall : Insulation ?

Hi all.

Next year i wanted to tackle the garage together with my dad. Cleaning it up to get a bit more use out of it other then to pile and store more or less useful stuff.

The garage is just a shed really. The basic idea is to mount OSB on the inside of the walls, to even out the space, and generate room for shelving and tool hanging. This will happen gradually, depending on time and money.

The Question :
What to put in between the outer wall and the inner osb Plate ? We got about 4,5" (12 cm) of room.

Is a vapour barrier needed ? Or can i just put in some rockwool and call it a day ?
Alternatively i have lots of styropor left overs from roof rennovations 2 years ago and for the first small segment it might be enough mass wise. Would have the advantage of not creating any additional costs for me.

Here some pictures to give you an idea on how the walls look like:

Thanks all for the feedback.

It is much appreciated.

Best regards

Not sure I can help insulation wise, but I would love to see more/better pic of the axe collection hanging on the wall.

People will need more information to help.

Where are you? (Climate Zone)
Do you plan on heating it?
Is it ventilated?

Typically you have a moisture barrier on the outside (tyvek) this is not a vapor barrier. then you insulate. then you put your vapor barrier on the warm side. then your wall or osb as you say you want to use.

the tyvek Is used to keep any water that might come into your wall from the outside and get your insulation wet from being able to reach the insulation. it also breaths so allow moisture in the wall cavity to dry.

Then the vapor barrier is on the warm side to prevent water vapor in the warm air from being able to penetrate into the wall.

the ceiling should be vented (not sure if you have soffit vents) from the pic it doesn't look like it but I can't tell.
