    Welding Helmet Recommendations

My auto-dark quit on me and the helmet was still good so I bought this because it was next day delivery. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTNS32R6?tag=atomicindus08-20 I know I'm a cheap skate, it was a quick swap, and has worked well so far. If you want to pay more...

    Bending Tubing - Need Advice

Put the already bent tube on that roller, mark the roller where the bend begins and ends. Put the straight tube on the roller, mark the tube where the bend starts, roll the straight tube around the roller until is perpendicular to the bend end mark on the roller. The distance between the marks...

HF 'hardwood' dolly as mobile base for table saw, shelving

I have used HF dollies to make tool carts and roll-a-round benches. I usually weld 2 castors to NOT swivel (think shopping cart) as it's easier to steer/move. I simply cut a short piece of a nail, lay it across the bearing track of the castor and tack weld it. This is a file cabinet converted...

I need some "Hard to find" set screws... But not having any luck...

You could cut down these that are too long but 5/16-32 set screw: https://www.mcmaster.com/products/set-screws/thread-size~5-16-32/thread-direction~right-hand/ .

    Fabricating joist hangers

I would mock-up the joist hanger you need out of cardboard as a template. Mark the bends and the hole pattern, flatten it out, and trace it out on an appropriate piece of galvanized, cut it out and use that 1st cut-to-shape metal piece as a template to cut the remaining 23 pieces. Cut them out...

    The repurposing thread

Same problem, where to mount. Fab'ed an extension mount for a trailer hitch. Like this, except it is adjustable up/down on the changer for different hitch heights. Only used for MC tires. I made this "birds head" from a picture of a Mojo lever, welded it onto the HF bar. works a treat. jmo, .

Repairing sagging wood fence gates without a complete rebuild

Understood... Drilling those off-center holes in the hinges is easy enough to do, even now, to solve the 2x4 splitting problem. The wire cable and turnbuckles solved a different (sagging) problem. jmo, .

Repairing sagging wood fence gates without a complete rebuild

Having all those hinge screws on the centerline of the 2x4 is what caused it to split. You need to stagger those screws, as well as the slat screws (on the opposite side) to reduce further splitting: jmo, .

    Fastener Assortments

A tuff question to answer, not knowing the size range, inch or metric, fine or course. I have bought a lot of common hardware from Amazon lately, shelf brackets, small angle brackets, etc. Here's an Amazon store that sells Nuts/Bolts, might have been posted already...

Taking the plunge and buying a flux core welder, would appreciate some advice.

Angle grinder to bench grinder is all I got. No cheapo belt grinder but a half dozen cheapo ($10+/-) HF angle grinders with a bunch of different stuff mounted on them, all swopped out to that same hole in that table. Better pic:  .

Taking the plunge and buying a flux core welder, would appreciate some advice.

That cart does come in a "flat box kit" and I welded every joint after doing the bolt-together routine. I use it differently though; I have the welder on the gas bottle shelf and bolted a 12x12x1/4 plate pedestalled on top as a welding table. A pedestal so that I can clamp stuff all the way...
