I have a pair of the HF sawhorses that have served me well. Use some sheet metal screws to secure the plastic feet so they don't fall off.
No complaints so far other than the 10,000 screws required to assemble them.

My brother bought a big Sears tool set in 1959 that included the ratchet. I hadn't seen it until recently. When I asked him about it he said he didn't think he had ever used the ratchet.

Highly recommended. What I really wanted was a Zebra but I am happy with the Streamlight which fits my budget.

I own four Kennedy 520s. The one I bought last year for $10 that was missing the front cover and was pretty dirty but no rust. It was full of tools of all kinds. I made out like a bandit on the deal.
Prices on the 520 are all over the map. Kinda depends on where you live and how many come up for...
Re: 'lefties' and power tools
Another lefty.
Best thing for me is to use power tools right handed. I am ambidextrous so it comes easy for me. I've read that many lefties are ambidextrous. It kinda makes sense - there are so many things that are designed to work best right handed.
If you can't...
Picked up a Taiwanese set. The store had both ROC and at the back of the rack a last Taiwan set. The Taiwan set looks a lot nicer.
I checked each socket and didn't seen any problems.

Streamlight 33244 3C Propolymer Luxeon Flashlight, Yellow
I have one of these that I use around the house/garage. Very bright and batteries last a long time. At $43 it is slightly above your price range. Might find it cheaper, don't know.
Highly recommended.

I still buy CM tools, but primarily made in USA. I do not insist all my tools be made in USA. Many of the tools from Taiwan are very nice quality and substantially cheaper than most of the US brands. (I'm thinking of Gearwrench in particular.)
If Sears could spec some quality ROC tools I...
You might consider dividing the tools and parts into two boxes. A typical 2/3/4 drawer portable box for the tools and one of the plastic parts boxes that are flat in profile and have molded plastic dividers. Cut out some of the dividers to accommodate the largest parts. I'm talking about the...
