Lowering compressor noise with sound proof shed?

If my biggest problem was noise, then I would agree, but it's space. This thing is not that loud in the first place. Because it's so overkill for what I need, I slowed the pump down to it's minimum using smaller gear on the motor. With a silencer it would be just a low rumble in the...

Lowering compressor noise with sound proof shed?

I need the space in my garage badly, the kids bikes etc are taking over every inch and it is already full of three cars, workbench, etc. I live in a relatively close quarters neighborhood so need to be cognizant of the noise. Compressor is a Belaire 7.5hp 80 gallon monster. Way bigger than I...

1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace

Re: 1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace COMPLETED Well took it all apart and honed/sanded with 400 the inside of the casting where the quill travels up and down and and reassembled. Works great. Using probably a crude method to find run out, I used a quality bit with the dial...

1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace

What I beleive to be the quill clearamce screw is not even tightened so I don't think that is the problem. I think I will pull the spring off and see if the quill floats freely through the stroke range and go from there.

1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace

Got it all back together but the quil qill not return. This was not working prior but just figured it was tons of gunk in there. I have light oil on the quil and rack. Not sure what else it could be. The return spring is cranked a ton and still doesn't return. It should not need to be that...

1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace

Ordered the bearings from Jim Liechty and sand blasted the cast parts and I'm painting them now. Thought about powder coat, but figured a good prime and several coats of paint will suffice. Polished the bare metal as much as I could. Not going full resto here just making it clean and fully...

1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace

James, I figured that would be the response given current build "quality" of most things these days. I don't have access to anyone with a lathe so stuck with the OEM style it seems. Vertually nothing was spent on the press, so $175 for a good machine isn't too bad in the end. The...

1943 Delta Dp220 14" Bench Top Rebuild or Replace

I have a Dp220 I picked up a few years ago as part of a package buy with a mig welder. I only wanted the welder but it was all or nothing. Price was right so the press and cold saw were vertually free. Anyway, I have some free time so I thought I would clean it up a bit and get it mounted...

    Adding portable Space

Thank s for the thoughts. Shipping containers are not exactly portable once dropped. I'd have to get one moved if the city wanted to dig up their drain and they are very big and tall. Neighbors wold never go for it! Need it a bit more permanent than green house hoops and much more secure...

    Adding portable Space

Has anyone built a custom yet portable shed to park a car in? I have a three car garage but like most could use a bit more room. I have a 10' X 20' parking spot on the side of my home, but can't build anything permanent there due to a city easement for a drain running between homes. Anyway...

    Air Compressor Timer

Auto drain is on to keep the tank clear of condensation while full of air. I like it ready when I need it so it's always full and ready to go.

    Air Compressor Timer

I will have to look into that on the pressure switch side. That didn't occur to me, but I assume that will be easier to find a timer for and less expensive. Should be 110 and only 30 amps I assume as it's probably only one leg to the 220/60amp line. Yes, I have an on off switch but if I am...

    Air Compressor Timer

Anyone using a timer to control the time of day that your compressor runs? I currently have it inside and while it runs only once a day if not in use as the result of the auto drain, I'd rather that not be in the middle of the night. Kids bedrooms are over the garage. It's not a loud unit...

    Slower Speed = Less Noise

So I got the thing chugging along very nicely and the noise level is great. However, I was changing the oil just as a precaution to know where I am with all areas on this thing, and after firing it up noticed a small leak from the aftercooler. Small O ring was burnt. Replaced that $.69 easy...
