Found a crack in my new lift tower late in the installation. FML!

IF we are going to talk about possibilities, here are some things you could think about. You could be sued by anyone injured. If you have kids and one gets injured mom could sue you - people do crazy things when bad things happen to their kids. Mfr would be on the hook in most jurisdictions...

    Ron Covell

Yesterday I attended Ron's "Beginning Steel" workshop near Georgetown, TX. I was an hour and a half's drive for me, and it was well worth it - it would have been worth traveling much, much farther. And Harold Chapman was the consummate host - his shop and crew are just amazing. For those who...

hands sweat like a faucet in latex/nitrile gloves - solution?

Speaking of rubber and cotton, I have a pair of madgrips. The rubber is really thick, so they are great for absorbing vibration like from a chainsaw or a push mower:

    Cordless Tool Wars

Not interested in a flame war, but this past year I got the 20V Matrix line of tools from Black and Decker. I really like them - I have the drill driver, the impact, the reciprocating saw - all head attachments easily swapped onto the trigger/ battery unit (and the Craftsman ones fit too)...

Houston area auction, lathes, automotive, 5 hrs left

Thanks for wasting about an hour of my time. Used up about all my willpower resisting bidding on the lifts. But I am bookmarking this site for when I am ready to start stocking a garage. If stuff like this is available then, it will save thousands of sawbucks.

    melted wirenut on hotwater heater

Lol. Twisted nuts argument. Gotta love GJ. Not to mention "hot water heater" police. Since silliness abounds, thought I would give everyone a chuckle: Best Mythbusters episode ever. Seriously, don't screw around when it comes to water heaters.
