I don't think this one has a lock on the quill. I did hold it all the way up and felt for side to side play as well as vertical play at the chuck and felt none. Does this mean the shaft is bent? Thanks for the help and advice. Kent

OK, so I finally got a chance to give it a closer look. The quill return spring is messed up. There is a spring present, but it looks a little mangled. Are quill springs fairly universal? My larger problem is the run-out. Guess I've bitten of a little more than I was wanting to chew on...

Angle for the top support is 1/4" thick and the top sits down inside the top frame. So, there's 3/4" of plate sitting about the frame. Kent

If there are fittings going from the actual compressor to the tank, check to be sure they are tight first. I was having a similar issue with my cheap tank and found one of the brass fittings was vibrating loose. Not a ton, but enough pressure wouldn't build quickly or very high. Good luck! Kent

Replace the tops, or if they're still decent, cover the tops with a piece of masonite hardboard. It's $9 a sheet and easily replaceable. Kent
