I have the black ones in a few kits. Can confirm they **** compared to the dewalts. I was gonna pick up some carbide ones but wondering if they're as good as they say.
I use food grade mineral oil. You can get a gallon of it for $25 or cheaper. I have 1 or a hundred guns/swords that all have a coating of mineral oil. No issues.
From my last thread, I bought a Bosch 12" sliding compound. I didn't want to add to the thread and cause confusion.
Anyways, I got the saw. Haven't tested it yet. One thing is bothering me though. For those that have it, when the arm is locked to prevent "sliding" for chop cuts, does your arm...
Thanks for all the replies. The Bosch is going to be my pick after reading about it more(and after the replies on here)Just going to have to take a road trip to pick one up!. Will be my first Bosch so hopefully they don't disappoint.
Closest menards is 2hrs away. I am looking into the bosch as I write this. How is yours as far as precision? Seems to be mixed reviews on how straight it cuts(fully extended on large cuts) due to the arm mechanism. Not that I would be using this to make such large precise cuts. Just curious if...
The cap isn't completely set at $500. I will take a look at the bosch. I already have a 10" compound(not a slider) my 12" has come in handy a lot on thicker stock whereas a 10" wouldn't have been able too. Plus I still have 3 unused blades.
I just started looking at that. Do you have one? Supposed to be comparable to the dewalt dws780. Really don't want to think about spending $400 on a HF electronic(although I have yet to have an issue with a belt sander and the Chicago miter)
What model? From what I know the newer 779 is...
Thanks everyone, going with the Bosch.
I need a new miter saw. I have a HF(old red one) that has served me okay for 8 years. But I need to upgrade. I have mostly dewalt tools and don't have an issue with them, but I am seeing mixed reviews on their models. Mostly model number shenanigans. That...
Thanks woody! My thoughts were that they're not really "worth" much of anything. I was more interested in the wooden tool chest, various chisels and old files.
Thanks for the replies. Being tied with the railroad makes sense, the owner of these was a Master Mechanic for one of the Mines up here. They're just of no use to keep unlike the other items I came across.
Came across some older tools(pre 40s) and pulled these wrenches out.
