    COSTCO Tool Deal

For 7 bucks, it's a great deal for the "upstairs" tool kit. I need to get to Costco this week anyway...

    HF ratchet test

Looks like a Wright clone to me. Wondering if the guts will fit in my old Powr-Kraft...

What do you guys think so far? Pinstriping the Classic 96

I love the work on the top of the box. I'd strip the bottom two pieces as I don't think there's enough real estate there to do much. Great work.

    Material for top work surface?

They have rolls of ribbed conveyor belt-like rubber in the flooring section at our Lowe's. I think it's intended for stair steps. Seems like it's 36" wide.

    HOT DEAL Index!!

Husky brand. They have bins full of no name bargain stuff too, but this was tucked back in the corner of the "tool crib".

    HOT DEAL Index!!

Home Depot online has a Waterloo 5-drawer ball bearing cabinet for $159 with free shipping. This appears to be equivalent to the Craftsman ball bearing box right below their Griplatch models, which would be really hard to find at this price...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

The nearby Home Depot is running their Husky ratcheting screwdrivers, stubby adjustable wrenches, and stubby combination 1/4-3/8 ratchets for 83 cents each. They're not on the Home Depot site - must be discontinued. They also had stubby hammers for around a buck and a half, if you have a use...

    Broke my first socket!

What's that black apparatus with the handle on it between the recipe, the potholder, the Tide bottle, and the bank statement?

    6 in 1 screwdrivers

I keep one of these in the utility drawer in the house. One of the bits doesn't fit snugly because the retaining ball is pushed in too far, but I didn't expect too much for $3. I like the concept. I'll probably buy a better one someday.

    American Chopper toolboxes

Yep, it's sad to see them reduced to building bikes for barter. That miserable dry drunk Paul Sr. deserves it, though. Their builds have dropped in status from Snap-On, through Craftsman, down to Kobalt. From 20th Century Fox and Intel to Window World. They have to be in debt up to their...

Very common tools I / You never use

I couldn't tell you the last time I used a slotted screwdriver, other than to pry/puncture/stir something.

    Craftsman Opens Apple-Style Retail Store!

Sounds like a great idea to me. They urgently need to do something to modernize the shopping experience. The traditional indoor mall is dead. Other retailers are moving out of malls and into mixed-use areas and outdoor faux-downtown malls as fast as they can. Our local Sears is a depressing...
