I was primarily interested in getting the lead screw out for possible sand blasting and paint. I think this one is going to have to live with just a vinegar resto, lol
Thanks for the response, I was thinking that would be the process as I see no other possible way to remove the spring. I'm thinking this one is staying in one piece as it doesn't appear as though that guide has any interest in coming out.
I just found a Stanley 1207, I’ve wanted one of these for a while. This one is in pretty good condition but I am considering a repaint. The lead screw is held in place with a spring steel plate. Is anyone familiar with these vises and how, if it’s even possible to disassemble them.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. All good info.
I will more than likely try one of the “gimmicky“ tools I see they offer and go from there. The stubby/half cut hex bits look interesting
I stumbled across a video for VIM tools on YouTube tonight. I have never heard of them before. I use mostly Snap On but the tools that were shown look really interesting. Particularly the 1/2 length bit set for tight spaces.
Anyone care to share their opinions of these tools, and does...
That is definitely a possibility but...if someone did repaint mine blue they completely disassembled it and sandblasted it as there are no other colors under the blue and that color is present everywhere, even in between the swivel base and the vise body so I'm not sure either. I would like to...
A few weeks ago I posted a thread asking for help identifying a Wilton Juno 1106. Within hours it was positively identified by some very helpful members. Since then it has been sandblasted, had a few nicks and saw marks welded and smoothed. Another very kind member helped me out with decals...
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what would have been the original color for these 1106 vises. Mine appears to be the blue that is visible on the underside but I’d like to hear form someone who has seen other 1106’s.
Wow, I never would have guessed i am the owner of a Wilton, but I would agree that it is an 1106 after seeing that ad. The 2 square recesses in the jaws must be for the pipe jaws, so that explains that mystery. I thought i was probably missing a cutoff insert.
Now I wonder if I can find repro...
I was given this today as an older friend knew I was looking for a 3" vise. I can find no identifying marks on it anywhere. Even under the swivel there is nothing. It appears very well made, no slop anywhere. All my friend knew was it came from his Father in law's garage. He thought it...
