garage stereo - ideas or post your setup

These Sonys are hefty but not over 75 pounds or so. Pipe brackets into the studs provided a super solid mount and easy too. Also made a pair of miniatures to hold the two satellites. I ended up building a cabinet to hold stereo equipment and put a cooling fan in it to keep my old Fisher amp...

Sometimes I just want to face Punch our GC....

Obvious solution is OSB and do it yourself! There, problem solved! Just kidding (kind of) but I share your pain when it comes to paying other people to do work. Very frustrating, indeed. It will be great when it's done!

    New shop 30x30

Looking good! I have a similar setup with the 105 cfls 8ft apart and 4ft from the walls which is really working good. Curious where you got your reflectors??

What should I do to my shop MDF counters to finish them?

Painted MDF is tough if you do it right. Kilz primer and 2 or 3 coats of good acrylic enamel rolled on and it will stand up to most anything. One of my benches has been painted that way for more than ten years and used every day. I think it is important to paint it before it gets used much...

    Madcap's NoMoDough Garage Build

Another month has passed and progressing slower... almost finished with the walls and built a cabinet for electronics and coffee pot, etc. When things warm up I will prime and paint the cabinet all black. Trying to keep it cheap, I scrounged an old barbeque grill handle for the big door, and...

    Madcap's NoMoDough Garage Build

Building crew progress by day and versaloks by me in the evening... It had been wiring for me each evening until it got to the point to move more dirt. I would gladly do electrical as opposed to block. Got all of the block except for top caps for $100 on c-list so that was a plus.

More framing and laying out the electrical. If you can tell from the pics, the Advantech floor is 1/2 inch lower than the concrete floor so that the future race tiles will be flush. The concrete all slopes away from that point, so it shouldn't cause any wet car issues.

Thank you-- the basement has proven to be a life saver for all the misc lawn and sports stuff I don't want in the main shop. I welded racks for my kayaks and which I also use in my camper, and threw together some shelves... Since it was in the dry first I started putting it together during a...

    Madcap's NoMoDough Garage Build

More progress and the footprint is starting to take shape. Nothing like some framing to make you realize it's actually going to be a space not just painted lines in the yard and corner stakes!

Thankfully I did get further before I ran out of cash and I did take plenty of pics. For some reason I can't post more than about 3 pics at a time here before I get an error message... Here's some more of the concrete work... and the Advantech deck over the basement portion...

    Madcap's NoMoDough Garage Build

After much research and planning, this fall we got started on our new detached 24 x 40 shop. Since our lot is sloped and we wanted to keep the building footprint proportionate to our house, we put a small basement below (16 x 24). We hired a good friend to do the exterior build and I am wiring...

    Bathroom Question

I am using garage trac tiles over Advantech subfloor to finish an office portion of my shop. A small 3x8 bathroom with a toilet and laundry sink is in one corner. Can I extend the interlocking tiles into this bathroom? If so, should the toilet rest on the tiles or should the tiles be cut to...
