    DIY Carriage Doors

I decided that I wanted carriage doors for the front of my remodeled garage because I did not want the tracks on the inside. I was searching Craigslist one day and found 4 brand new straight grain fir doors that were never used for a new Texas Roadhouse restaurant. Each door was 3 feet wide x...

Shops with carriage doors, weather seal questions...

Has anyone used the Brush Weatherseals that advertise on the Garage Journal home page? They look like they would work well but are rather expensive.

drive in or back in your garage?

We drive in both of the daily drivers and drive in the old car when I use it a lot (good weather) and back in when I don't drive it.

Smart side siding for interior ceiling and walls

For trim we just used standard "quality" wood boards. We used L shaped trim pieces where we had really deep doorways. Funny you should ask about the ceiling because we debated what to do. The room is a little over 14' wide and 35' long so we felt the lines should go width wise to make the...

Smart side siding for interior ceiling and walls

We are just finishing our garage area in which we used 4' x 9' SmartSide Siding from Menards. We painted ours "fog" gray. We feel it is nice siding, very heavy. We have found that it's easy to hide old nail holes if you want to move a picture or something around. By the way, the ceiling is...

Racedeck Graphite and Snap Carpet Charcoal Tile Pictures

I spent some time today kneeling and laying on my RaceDeck carpet tile installing and painting base boards. BIG difference in comfort and warmth compared to the bare concrete. It sure is a lot more pleasant to work on the tile rather than the concrete and the looks of the room are greatly improved.

Racedeck Graphite and Snap Carpet Charcoal Tile Pictures

The Snap Carpet is more for looks and walking on, not for driving on so it won't get wet. When I spoke to the representative at Race Desk she advised that it is not really made to be driven on. I installed it outside of the car area so that I don't expect it to get wet.

The paneling is 7/16" textured Smart Siding from Menards. It was available in 4' x 9' sheets which worked well for me and it was about $28 a sheet. It comes pre-primed and we put 2 coats of paint on it.

Racedeck Graphite and Snap Carpet Charcoal Tile Pictures

My wife and I installed our new Race Desk floor. We have a 10' x 18' area of Graphite diamond pattern tiles for the '32 Ford to sit on surrounded by Snap Carpet Charcoal tiles. We first put down landscape fabric as has been suggested here which we think was a good idea. The installation was...

    Racedeck color questions

We just ordered graphite tile where the '32 will sit and charcoal grey carpet tiles for the TV area and the rest of the room. Both colors are rather dark but the walls are light grey and the ceiling is galvanized metal, so it should work well.
