Racedeck color questions

a few questions if anyone already has done racedeck:

#1 is black too dark, even for a checkerboard pattern?
#2 does white show dirt too easily?

#3 if the above is true, then can I use graphite and alloy? I realize colors are subject to the opinions of the owners, just looking for some other opinions !

this is for a double car garage, light duty at worst, 24 by 24 squares, diamond or circletrac
thanks,
new guy

Black and white looks nice, but I would think it would be more difficult to keep it looking nice. I would say a checkerboard pattern using a little less dark color and a little less light color would be an easier floor to keep clean. But as you mentioned, it is mostly a matter of personal opinion and you should pick the colors that please you.

Colours would really depend on where you are and what you will be doing with the garage. I've seen some nice pics of garages in warm US states that just have Ferrari's parked on it so White isn't an issue. But if you lived up here in Canada and you were using it to park your daily driver, then white would be a challenge to clean. I've had Red, Black, Graphite and Alloy. Each "colour" is great. The other key is to make sure your lighting is appropriate, as in the more the better hahaha. Really helps to showcase the floor and offset in the case of you going with black.

You can check pics with all the mentioned colours in both of my garages in my signature below.

my order will be for graphite and alloy. come on, all the cool kids are doing it.

I am going with Free flow XL black and alloy checkerboard.

Peter

Looking forward to seeing these. Make sure you guys post up pics when your done, and some crucial "before" shots to give everyone the perspective.

We just ordered graphite tile where the '32 will sit and charcoal grey carpet tiles for the TV area and the rest of the room. Both colors are rather dark but the walls are light grey and the ceiling is galvanized metal, so it should work well.

I have both the Graphite and Alloy combination, live in Canada and love it. Solid around the edge and Free Flow in the middle.

Just moved from a house with a 3+ car garage that had red and alloy 24 in square Racedeck for about tens years. Moved to condo with 1 1/2 car garage. Considered all color combos for the new floor. White gets too dirty. Dark colors show dust and dirt. The red and alloy looked like new after ten years and was so easy to take care of---I went with it again. I clean it with an air hose sweep and use Windex on most drips. Just my opinion.

CRF8, I would avoid white personally. It looks dirty too fast.
Call them and get some sample tiles. But beware they have stickers that do not clean up well, so some of the dirtyness is false..
I still have sample tiles installed in my garage as I am slowly buying what I need. He is white coin next to graphite and alloy. I think the diamond plate would still show dirt with white tiles.

This will give you an idea of what Black and Blue FreeFlow look like next to Graphite.

When I placed my order with RD by phone, they transposed a number in my phone listed. I caught it and they changed it, apparently too late because RLshipping has been calling the wrong number trying to set up delivery. I have called RLshipping and given them the right number, but today they called the wrong one again. I am an "attention to detail" person in business transactions, so this has caused me some stress. Hopefully it gets delivered tomorrow or I will have to wait until Monday.

I saw this post and went to find out where your order is and called the R&L supervisor about it..Your order is going to be delivered tomorrow.. Somehow you ph number did get entered in our system incorrectly and was corrected both here and with R&L corp but they did not change it with the drivers paper info... our bad for transposing it in the first place:eyecrazy: Ashley is staying on top of it until it arrives at your door.

The delivery came on time today, washed the floor, got most of it down OK, still need to do some trim pieces. I am very happy with the product, took about 5 hours. Will post the whole garage in the right section in a week or so.

Oooopppsss... Don't forget to leave a half inch perimeter between the tiles & your walls. I put the trim pieces way too close and the tiles actually buckled when I drove on it. The tiles seem to expand the direction the car is moving and contract just a hair from side to side. I unsnapped all the end pieces and cut 1/3 inch additional off.

Thanks, 14 Camaro SS & 74 Firebird Formula 400; the last course of tiles are free flow to help with wind driven rain blowing in the garage.

Random thread revival!
I hadn't read this before, but also decided that Graphite and Alloy will be better than Black and White.
I added a little (Royal / Bright) blue accent for interest. I didn't want straight checkerboard. Some may call it over the top, but the tool chest and all 3 of our current cars are (dark) blue, so I thought it would be a nice touch. [Tacoma is red, but it'll spend most of it's time outdoors, as it has for the past 25 years.] I did run out of tiles; just ordered more blue to finish off that final interior border.

Looks great! I'm between Alloy and Graphite or Alloy and Black. How does the Alloy and Graphite work together?

I think they look great together. Great contrast without clashing. But, due to the way the FreeFlow panels reflect light, they are also near enough that in certain lighting, from certain angles, they can blend together.

I find that my alloy and graphite show little to no dirt/dust. If dust/dirt bothers you, I would steer clear of black. It looks amazing when clean but shows everything. Alloy/Graphite go quite well together (pic for reference). Can't comment on the white.

Yes, I battle dust and sand primarily here in FL. Weekly landscaping service provides a nice blast of sand into the garage under the seal. One of the reasons i'm going for Free-Flow is to allow the sand to pass through. Thanks for the comments as well on colors, your garage is incredible. Very helpful to see them together.

Wow.
Love the M2CS. (My inspiration is a Deep Sea Blue 135i.)
And the entire garage. I was going to do wood paneling, but between cost and schedule, the wife nixed the idea. So I'll implement some (different style) in the shed.
Our "Planks"-style garage doors, with left-side horizontal windows, are due in just a couple weeks.
That isn't the Husky HD storage is it? I'm getting those for the west wall (near the window.)

We painted the day before I set the single bay. When I came back, it was covered in a thin layer of white powder. Each step made footprints. Very dull and sad. I was afraid it would be tough to remove. In actuality, it blew right off with a leaf blower, and looks brand new.

Thanks for the kind words. Those cabinets are the New Era Bold series. Very happy with them for the price. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum...-reviews-and-tips.383018/page-16#post-9523144

I've been wondering and searching for paint to match the RaceDeck tiles. Should have just asked.
Pantone 425c is what RaceDeck recommends for Graphite.
As noted elsewhre around this site, Pantone 2726c is closest to Bright or Royal Blue.
I didn't ask about Alloy, but I'm sure they have something.

I had already determined that SW7674 Peppercorn is really, really close to the Graphite tiles. And I like it. Turns out, according to HEX to RAL comparator, that it's the closest Sherwin Williams color to Pantone 425c.
As such, I searched for closest SW blue to 2726c. It's SW6971 Morning Glory.
So, I've ordered a quart of each to test as trim/accent.
