Recommendations for a high teens CFM compressor?

My Quincy 7.5 horsepower, 80 gallon has worked awesome in my home shop. Annual oil changes, condensation drained each night, and it just "thumps on." I bought it back in 2001 and it hasn't costed me a penny, except for oil changes. Highly recommend the brand.

    The Samurai Workbench

Amazing craftsmanship! The bench is remarkable, nice to see the kids out there with you. Hats off to your wife for having the patience to keep dinner warm, late nights. I work with wood also-- a big chainsaw. Keep up the good work!

What's resale value of USA Craftsman sockets

Has anyone else heard that CM is considering bringing back their tool manufacturing back to America? I was in Sears the other day looking around to see if I could find an American made three jaw puller. Briefly talked to a salesman and he had made this comment, I don't know if it's true but it's...

    Quincy Compressor Fitting

I'm looking for two fittings for my Quincy QT-5 compressor. They are male 90 degree 3/4" X 3/4 male on both ends. One end is flare pipe thread, the other is NPT, they also have a "seat" machined inside the fitting. I can get them from the local Quincy dealer at $25 a pop, is there another place...

Places you DON'T want to find Snap On tools

Our boxes in the Air Force had a cutout for every tool in the box. The foam was painted white, when you removed a tool the foam underneath was black. It took two seconds to see what was missing by noting the shape of the tool and the contrast between the white and black shadowing. Lost tools...

Quik Change Connectors for Air Hoses and Tools?

I run the Milton V-style hi flow connectors with a 3/8" hose. You can definitely feel the difference with the hi-flow vs the standard flow connectors.

    Changing compressor oil ?

On my 80-gallon Quincy I change annually. I use it to work on farm equipment, auto, whenever I can. Redline synthetic lubes it's guts, also a shot of grease for the electric motor. I would say it runs, on average, 15-hours per month.

Non Aerosol Spray Can - What's Your Homemade Brake Clean Recipe?

I have used 50/50 mix of acetone/trans fluid for years. While it's effective, keep it away from brakes as stated. Also, careful around painted surfaces as well.

    Air Compressor Oil Type?

Run the viscosity the owners manual specs. As stated, the manufacturer made the compressor they should know best how to lube it. As far as oil brand I would say it's your choice. My Quincy QT-5 has had a steady diet of Red Line 20 or 30-weight oil depending on season. It has run 10-hours a day...

    Metabo grinder model # WG9-115

FWIW, mine was "wrapped" with the white see thru paper also. The box looked like it went thru a paper shredder. No damage to the grinder. Good luck with them, I'm sure they will serve you well.

    Metabo grinder model # WG9-115

Got mine home yesterday. Already working it on my snowmobile tunnel. Have a heat exchanger to change. Typical Metabo grinder: great ergos, balanced and for a 4 1/2" unit she packs a decent punch. Seems like each time I buy their grinders they get better and better. Can't go wrong and you'll...

    Metabo grinder model # WG9-115

Mohawk Dave, Yes, that's the grinder I was referring to. FWIW, the Metabo I have now I bought 22-years ago. Still runs fine, did brushes a few times and that's it. In my old age I'm tired of swapping discs. I'm going with dedicated grinders, no more swapping. I know it's lazy but my hands aren't...
