    Truth or just an excuse

I have a HF air body saw that didn't have enough power to cut cardboard. My dad suggested a heavy weight oil. I happen to have Yamalube 20w-50 on the shelf and gave it a shot. No kidding, the thicker oil must seal up the motor better, because it will at least cut sheet metal now. The saw is...

    Show us your welding projects

I'm about to scrap a weber grill. Thanks for the idea! Oh, and the bumper looks good, too!

    HF Auto Darkening Hoods

I have been using the HF for a couple years. It works, but has issues for me. It is not comfortable, falls off my head a lot. When I pull it down to block the light from underneath, the window is not in the right spot. My eyes were always bugging out after a day of welding. I was recently...

Rust, Primer, Paint, Body Filler questions

Ospho will leave an acid film. Epoxies will not adhere over the acid film. To remove the acid film, wet it with ospho, and while active (don't let it dry) scrub with scotchbrite and rinse with water. Most people call this "nuetralizing", but you are really diluting and rinsing the acid away...

Powder Coating Gun for the Novice?

I have the eastwood single voltage. Works great. I was having problems with the powder repelling, solved it with a dedicated earth ground. Check craiglsist for a cheap or free oven. I don't recommend doing it in the house. I buy powder from tccoatings or pouderbythepound.

    Nice Welding Pliers

Sorry to hijack your thread, but Stronghand tools are the best locking c-lamps I have and use. With their heavy I-beam style construction, they don't distort if you weld too close to them. Super smooth, and the release lever design works very well. And, they're only $12 each. They also have...

A dining table for MRS Clause

Nice table! Bowling alley lane is kind of a love-hate thing. Yes, it is a pain in the **** to work with, but good to know something is getting recycled. I like the patterns and wood variety. Guys like you have an artistic vision for creating these works of art. I still have a 6' piece of...

Welding Cart for Miller 211 Inverter

Nicely done. Looks like the same cabinet I used: http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?593361-The-Welding-Cart-Thread-Post-Em-Up!!&p=7737221#post7737221 I like the shelf over yours. I'm going to have to steal that idea. Though, is it hard to open it up for wire changes? I totally agree with...

    Looking to upgrade welder, suggestions?

I have the 215 and love it. I believe MIG is the same as 211, however the 215 has a digital interface. Lately I have been using the TIG a lot. Works great!

    Multiprocess Welders

I have a MM215. NO regrets! I use the MIG for most general welding. TIG for sheetmetal and thin stuff. I put together my own TIG package with SSC pedal, CK flex 9 torch, and Harris flowmeter, for the same price as the Miller TIG kit. It only take 5 seconds to switch from MIG/TIG. If I ever...

Festool "PRO 5 LTD" ETS 125 REQ Random Orbital Sander Deal

Since orders are suspended, when it returns, will it still be $99 + $50 voucher? Or is this deal dead?

    Home Depot Clearance Thread 2016

How do you handle the associates following you around the store asking what you're looking for? I was recently looking for the clearance shop vacs, looking behind stuff, scanning the rafters, etc. It was in the key cutting area. The key cutter kept giving me the stink eye, then picked up his...

    Lowe's Clearance Thread 2016

Sticker price on the Gladiator lockers direct from the manufacturer is $79.99, not $269. Another case of over priced to look like a good deal, other than Walmart has a few for $66.

    Lets see your workbench

Bowling alley bench. It's well beat and has some character. Flooded with 2 coats of spar eurethane. Front edge is 2x angle for a crisp edge to bend sheet metal. Base is 2x2 .120" wall, blackened, oiled, and waxed. Next project is to build rolling cabinets to nest underneath.
