    Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

I've been eyeing the M18 30 degree framing nailer. It's been $379 for a while; I was hoping for a sale. Today it's $429. I can still get the combo with safety glasses for $383, so might have to jump. Looks like there is a price hike afoot...

    2023 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread

Oak Park Heights, MN - Not a bad price for a Werner 1AA Leansafe ladder. Looks like Lowes is trying to compete with HD for "penny deals" on these trouble light LED retrofits.

    2023 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread

Not for me, the app says they are not available... yet that one is clearly there, and I have no reason to not believe the employee that they had more in stock. Perhaps call your nearest Lowes to ask; BS was clearly not accurate for my store for a bunch of other things, too.

    2023 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread

Stopped by Lowes this afternoon. Numerous items listed above had Brickseek was showing as OOS, yet I was able to find them in store, so thanks for those that have posted! Guess things are off with inventory. Found this snowblower attachment to 100 series Deere lawn tractors, if anyone lives in...

    Menard's Deals Permathread!

That is awesome. Thanks for the tip! I hate to be the last to discover these hidden deals, and miss out. Of course, the first thing that popped up when I used it was "moldy brown mulch" - Which I applaud the truth in advertising, but think they must have needed to manually put that...

    Home Automation

X10 is going the way of the Dodo. Primarily you'll see devices around to support legacy installations, but folks have moved away from PLC (power line carrier) solutions, because they were unreliable if you had any line noise... Like from a simple phone charger, even. Like someone noted, only...

    Required lift accessories

Another option are those 'water noodles' you can buy at your local big box retailer, normally reserved for summer fun. You can cut them down the center to open them like the pipe insulation, and just double stick tape them (or hot glue) on. They are quite thick, and come in a variety of colors..

    Lubricheck Oil Analysis tool

:tard: DOH. I didn't even bother to look that up. I just caught an article this morning, and how the project was funded through Kickstarter. Turns out they're located about 20 miles north of me, across the border in Wisconsin. I might just have to meander up there and see if I can get one before...

    Lubricheck Oil Analysis tool

Anyone been following the development of Lubricheck? I think they're getting ready to ship. It's a $40 oil analysis device, designed to check your oil and let you know when it's time to change. I would think that if it actually works (and that's what I'm leaning on the GJ members to figure...

    The Garage Computer

For those looking for a quick and simple laptop cabinet, our Swedish friends have one available: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10139134/ I've been thinking of picking one up, just to keep the laptop out of the way when not in use...

mounting a butcher block top to a steel frame.

+1. You could perhaps also dowel the joint instead of biscuits, if you don't have a biscuit cutter. You may want to 'fill' the crack with poly or similar once it's jointed, to try to seal up that meet point from snagging or collecting things. In lieu of flat stock, a simple wood board could...

    Best cordless screw driver?

Sounds like you're dealing with two primary issues; strip out and hand/arm fatigue. For the strip out, just using Square Head/Robertson or Torx head screws will go a long way. For fatigue, you need to reduce both the torque your arm is countering, and weight. A lightweight impact gun would meet...

    Leatherman "MUT" model

This is so true. I've had my Leatherman PST since 1992, and it's still going strong. (That was back when the PST was the ONLY Leatherman you could get!) I've often thought of getting one of those new fancy models, but I don't care for the additional weight (if you want to put it in a pocket)...
