I use this, it's fine with the heat and leaves a nice polish on the window that makes it easy to keep clean after.
Hole through the wall, you can use a piece of PVC if you want. low expanding foam to seal the hole and this to cover it up:

Exactly how I do it on my trailer, pull the pin, and see if any of the wheels turn. But to be honest I only do this 1 time a year but it should be done every time you haul

I would think you can use a piece of #2 with a split bolt you can splice in the box if there is enough room or is there a pin terminal you can put on?
I would Ask him to redo it, you asked for a color and you sent him the correct info. if you don't love it now it will always bother you that you didn't get it fixed.
I have them in 2 of my cars. Work just fine, but are not a cure all. If you drive on the highway a lot they are great, In town they won't self balance till about 20-30mph and you might get some shaking
