    120V garage heater

You better have more than one circuit available. My 2 cents says you will need a minimum of three. The best 120v heaters I have seen give 5K BTU 1800 watts.

    PanaVise 301 $19.97 @ RadioShack

Unless it is different where some of you guys are, I don't understand the hate here. In my local RS, the price on the shelf was $40. The sale that showed up when I had them check the price at the register was $20 on clearance. To me, that indicates that they will run out and not carry it...

    Concrete thickness

If my slab was supposed to be 6", it was formed, but not poured, I would be on the phone with the contractor right now to get it right before the trucks start rolling in.

    Got started on our 28x30

Nuclear Density testing seems to be way overkill for a garage project. However, it is a very effective way to get compaction density and much faster than a sand cone.

    Single car remodel in NC!

Maybe a liftmaster 3800 to avoid relocating lights for the opener?

    wish I would have....

I NEVER heard anyone say they have too much square footage, outlets, or light ..... ever. I got a lot of pushback from my builder (who is also a friend) on lights and outlets. In the end, we did it my way as I was footing the bill. No regrets. I have 28wx33d and wish it was 30 x 35. I wish I...

Problems with my HD9 Bendpak lift

I took his statement to be out of concern for anything leaking on to the car below, not it settling down on something.

    Propane tank leak?

We had an issue with our grill and it turned out to be the hose and not the tank.

    Phone jack in garage

I found that buying a spool of cat 5e when I wired the house for network was cheaper than buying what I needed. It did not make sense to me to go buy phone wire when I still had half a spool left.

    Phone jack in garage

I ran cat 5e for both network and phone. Most applications I have seen doing this used blue/blue white for line 1 and orange/orange white for line 2.

    Smoke Detector wiring ?

Update - One set of wires is on an outlet circuit and one is on a light circuit. I am planning on sticking with the light circuit and removing the other set of wires. What is the proper way to remove the cable that goes from the outlet to the smoke detector? The easy way is to cut both ends...

    Critique my floor plan?

My first thoughts are a window for the guest room and I thought that bedrooms had to have closets, but not sure on that.

    Smoke Detector wiring ?

Well, I already have it so I will leave it the way it is until it presents a problem. At that point, I will get something different. I mainly need solutions for the other two detectors.

    Smoke Detector wiring ?

I recently found out that smoke detectors should be replaced every so often. Since I also recently added a garage, I figured that I would add a new detector to the two in the house and connect them all so that smoke/fire/CO2 in the garage would also set off the whole house. The units that were...
