How to attach aluminum to HDPE?

Just glue them in with a good epoxy. I have experimented in the past bonding PE. It is surprising how strong a good mechanical bond can be. From your drawing it looks like you have a good bonding surface area. Preparation is key. Roughen up the end of the aluminium using course sandpaper and...

    9" Angle Grinder Recommendation?

The best priced, no nonsense 9" grinder is the Hitachi G23SS No softstart, no overload cutout or any other gimmicky features. It is a good simple, well made grinder. I have yet to kill it. You really can't justify a Metabo unless you are using them everyday, all day. I can't stress enough...

I agree Mark - great screwdrivers (especially at your price). They are certainly worth a bit extra over the Wera chiseldrivers. Fantastic service as always

    knipex cobra XXL pliers

Here is a photo of the XXL beside the XL A few photos of the jaws- Here they are compared to the standard 10". It makes them look like a toy. Honesty they are quite clumsy to use. They can be hard to grip one handed and you can't put a pipe over the end like a large stilson. But they...

In the market for a new ratchet! (UK)

My favourite 3/8 ratchets are the Wera Zyklops and the Snap on FHL80 for the long handle. For a short sealed version, either the Facom pear head (JL.161PB) or the Bahco dual 80. Either is good. The Facom is more compact, but I would imagine the dual 80 is stronger if you are planning on...

Seeing that it is so close to christmas, Amazon have dropped the price of the Wera advent calender: £33 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wera-Christmas-Advent-Calendar-Piece/dp/B00E7O5LG8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397155079&sr=8-1&keywords=wera+calendar Although, I only bought it for the tools.

Replacement chuck for Makita cordless drill

I am not fond of that particular model of drill. It is Makita's cheapest version and has a non serviceable motor (which burns out easily). Personally I don't think it is worth spending the money on it to buy a new chuck. I would try and free it up - its bound to free up with use? Otherwise...

    Tools from the old world

Nicely done. One for your work, one for home, one for your car, and a spare? The only real difference I can see is in some of the screwdriver bits. What is your verdict on the 1/4 ratchet?

Wrench rack for a couple dozen wrenches?

It is hard to beat the Erst racks. Why not throw the 20, 23, 25, 26, 28 and 29 in a heap in the corner and use the Ernst. How often do you really expect to use them? Handy to have yes, but they don't deserve prime space.

    Tools from the old world

Don't tempt me - I already have the standard Hazet set, a Stahlwille set, a wera set, and now the Facom and Beta sets. My everyday use set is an Expert set, which is holding up fine, especially considering it gets use with an impact driver. I would definitely recommend the Facom over the...

Massive kickback from angle grinder on startup

Considerably larger rotating mass that is being accelerated very fast (F=ma) Honestly, learn to love that kick. A lot of 9" grinders today come with softstart and a pile of other needless protection features. However, the manufacturers seem to use these to skimp on the size of brushes...

In Austria - Advice for hand tool purchase?

Bit of a pointless rant imo. Hazet 1/4" 30 piece set at 189 Euro Vs a Snap On 1/4" 14 piece General service socket set in a crappy blow moulded tray at $272 Which works out to be, which works out at 199 Euro. I know which one i would rather have! You did raise a good point about the...

In Austria - Advice for hand tool purchase?

I have that exact set, except for a different ratchet. Everything screams quality. Sockets are all knurled and the larger ones are turned down. Fit is exceptional on both the fastener and drive ends. Comes in a very nice injection moulded case with a PUR foam insert ( more like a flexible...

    Tools from the old world

As usual Monte, thanks for sharing these videos. I love watching them and I am sure I am not the only one. Do you think it would be worthwhile starting a separate thread to compile all these manufacturing videos in one place? I would rather watch a video of the product being produced, than...

    Tools from the old world

Thought it was about time I picked up a compact 1/4" socket set to carry to a job instead of a random assortment in my pocket. Choice was a Facom Nano of the Beta Mini. I couldn't make my mind up, so I bought both....... Verdict: If I had to buy one I would buy the Facom. It more...
