    Swiss Army Knives

Got a Wenger Handyman from a neighbor's garage sale as a kid, with a generic leather sheath. Traveled many miles with me during my time in Boy Scouts. It also spent some time in my paintball box. Never lost the tweezers or the toothpick surprisingly. These days, it hangs out in my big toolbox at...

    Westward Tool Boxes

I have a 44" stainless top chest I scored from the scrap heap when I worked at Grainger. It was way nicer than my small homeowner grade CMan combo I had at that point. It was damaged during shipping on the top left back corner, so it was returned. It's been a good toolbox for the price I paid...

Why no love for ECHO chainsaws?

The CS-590 with the 18" bar is what I'm looking at also. My FIL is a Stihl man, and my BIL (his son) is a Husqvarna guy lol. I was looking at the Stihl MS250, or a used MS271, but the price vs feature of the Echo won out for me. I won't be cutting much more than baseball bat-sized trees and...

    Headlamp for hard hat?

I wear a MSA V-guard full brim, and when I need a headlight, I have a Klein Tool Rechargeable Auto-off Headlamp. Comes with a rubber strap that is pretty grippy. Bright enough for me, rechargable with the same cord as the streamlights we have (and some work phones), and haven't had it slip off...

How Do You Store Tools in a Vehicle?

Probably overkill for roadside repairs, but it rides in the driver floorboard in the backseat. 50% of the reason it stays is the rare occasion I need it at work, which is infrequent at best. Mainly all metric Genius 1/2, but have a set of the free HF screwdrivers, an adjustable wrench, and...

I have that set in SAE, and I love it. Gets used every day working on industrial water transfer pumps.

    1. Sunex 2. 1/2" impact swivel, broke the pin that held it together 3. Purchased as a part of their master SAE 1/2" drive set that comes in the blow-molded case How and where did you process the warranty claim? -First called Sunex to get a replacement, but the lady I spoke with referred...

    Painting a old Craftsman toolbox

My dad bought a toolbox almost exactly like that from a neighbor's garage sale for dirt cheap. I ended up changing jobs and needed a toolbox, and he had it sitting idle. He repainted it using rustoleum. Not sure what particular red he used. The drawers are similar to the hammered finish, like a...

    Quiet gas powered hydraulic pump

I'm not sure how quiet you want, but check out the power units from Hydra-tech. We use them for hydraulically powered submersible pump heads. It looks like they may have sound-attenuated units, but be warned, those are probably cost-prohibitive...

Got tired of trying to purge old wheel bearing grease in the bearings on our trailer mounted pumps with a pistol-grip grease gun, so I upgraded to an M12. Another tech at our shop has a 20v Dewalt, and it is a dream to use on bearings, compared to the manual gun.

    White tool boxes/cabinets/benches

I love white boxes. Our local SO guy tried to sell me on one of his boxes a few months ago, but I can't justify $1500 for a Milwaukee box combo, much less what SO would want haha

Two sets of pliers: some Milwaukee v-jaw pliers (48-22-6212), a gift from my dad. Havent found them to be any more useful than my Channellock 430s, so they are in my drawer. Feel good though, and I love Milwaukee. Channellock 212 filter pliers, via Amazon: bought to replace a HF filter plier...
