Pouring concrete over concrete to raise floor level

I have a 13'x21' out building that has poured concrete walls that the earth has built up around over the last 70 years and now gets water on floor in the spring and after heavy rains. I use it as a little work shop. It has 100" of head room inside now. I would like to add 1 or 2 inches of rigid...

low budget make up air heater

I had a nice old metal box fan on inside of the window pulling the heated air in. I was able to keep about a 4" gap between the propane heater and my 8" duct and that gap served to temper the incoming air and greatly increase the total volume of air. The indoor air quality was surprisingly good...

low budget make up air heater

I have a wood burner in my 16x24 garage. I am in process of getting my 1972 TR6 ready for paint. Wanted to shoot the epoxy and 2k primer this weekend but it is 22 degrees here. Since I don't want to blow up my garage had to rig up heater where the flame is outside and use a 10 feet of 8 inch...

Light fixtures are cheapo lights from eBay, they have vintage look and have led bulbs in them. Rather tails are screwed to a board and then board screwed to side of garage, was super easy to do after contemplating different ways to make them more structurally sound. They only have to support 12"...

    Garage Rescue

Just a note about floor finish. I used a mixture of 33% boiled linseed oil 33% mineral spirits 33%spar varnish for first 2 coats . Then gradually increased the amount of varnish and reduced the linseed and mineral spirits. I did not want a polyurethane/plastic coated wood floor. I really wanted...

    50 foot wide lot , $2500 budget

Oh, do you refer to the turned down design of the shingled facia area? That is original design of the cottage. Built in 1949 , Stone Cottage built by a Craftsman , seems like the continuous roofing /facia is a Scandinavian tradition, dating back to the look of a thatched roof. The garages are...

    Garage Rescue

We moved the garage first week of Demeber of 2017, had a lot if work to get site prepped before ground all froze up. I remember the first weekend of February the low temps were below zero with highs in single digits. But it was sunny and I had lots to do. I worked all day long both days getting...

    50 foot wide lot , $2500 budget

I would not trade my 50' sliver of property on lake Michigan for a $2,000,000 place anywhere, Hand on Bible. Heck, living on the shore of Lake Michigan in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with summer breezes off the lake, I do not own a pair of shorts!

    50 foot wide lot , $2500 budget

Car is a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite, just sold it 2 weeks ago and picked up a 1972 Triumph TR6 and will be restoring that next. The interior of garage is messy and nothing to write home about, but you asked for pics so you shall receive. The window on the veranda is a cleverly disguised door...

Thanks for the suggestion to mount a photo collage to the wall. I will do just that! I am proud of this little building of small stature and I do appreciate the history of stuff. So maybe someday the "next guy" will raise a cold one when he is out in his cozy little garage and salute the old...

    50 foot wide lot , $2500 budget

Lot is only 50' wide but over 400 feet deep with a gravel drive and parking area. And here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula we get lots if snow to plow. The tractor is a 1988 John Deere 750 with a really nice heated Cozy Cab. I love that Tractor!
