Sorry, disregard, just double checked my 220V and one of the legs was slightly loose back at the panel, making intermitrtent connection.

    Wiring Contactor For Two-Post Lift

Hey guys, I wired up my two-post lift for the required 220V single-phase voltage just as described in this video: Confirmed I have 220V across my two hot leads, and triple-checked I wired it just as the video shows. However, when I press the up button, the contactor just buzzes and the motor...

VCT Tile: Bevel Edges to Prevent Chipping?

Installing VCT in the garage. I have a 30’ floor grate drain that I was just going to run the tile up to. This means the tile will sit proud 1/8” in that area. Would it be enough to bevel the edges that are against the drain to prevent chipping? Or should I use something else?

    Hydraulic Fluid for Two-Post Lift

Manufacturer of my lift calls for "N 46" hydraulic fluid. All I seem to be able to find is AW 46. This should be OK, right? Same viscosity, but it just includes some anti-wear additives if I understand correctly.

    Help Assembling Two-Post Lift?

I'm 99% sure you're right about the bottom pulley the more I look at it. Now just have to figure out the top. I was pleasantly surprised by the anchors included with this one; nice 3/4" zinc hammer drive anchors just like these: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/77186591

    Help Assembling Two-Post Lift?

No worries! I know what you're saying about having to put hands (and in-person eyes) on the parts. Meet up in Michigan? That's about halfway for each of us! ;)

    Help Assembling Two-Post Lift?

Haha, license #438934-PITA! And trust me, I know it's blurry; I wish it was an issue with my scanner. But that's how it actually looks in the installation instructions.

    Help Assembling Two-Post Lift?

Lured by a Amazon $500 gift card that I had, I succumbed and bought a cheap Chinese-made two-post clear floor lift (in this case an Aston Tech AL-100RH, though there seem to be quite a few of these same lifts with just different paint colors and brand names). The Amazon seller was the...

How to Finish Short Stem Walls

Plan to spend some time on finishing the garage this winter now that the new house we built is finally done. Painting, VCT floors, etc. It's a bit under 1700 sq ft. All of the stem walls are ~18" high or so, and were poured 8" thick vs 6" thick framing above, so there's a 2" lip of exposed...

    Two-Post Lift Rated for Storage?

Is there something you recommend in a four-post that has a built-in jack for wheel removal? Frankly, a lot of my jobs at home are swapping wheels/brake jobs/suspension adjustments.

    Two-Post Lift Rated for Storage?

I'm ready for a lift. My primary need is for working on my cars, but as my collection grows an extra storage spot would be nice. The only company I can seem to find that makes a two-post that also is designed to store cars is Mohawk. I don't know much about them, and am struggling to find...

Stihl MS 290 Chainsaw Won't Start

You're onto something with the flooding. The way the guy that sold me the saw (who's been a Stihl dealer for 25+ years) taught me was to put it in full choke and pull until it "caught", then choke it down and pull again until it was running. This always worked in the past: generally, 3-4 full...

Stihl MS 290 Chainsaw Won't Start

Hope this is OK here... Have a 8-9 year old MS 290 I bought new. Low hours overall. Put about 3 hours on it two weeks ago where it worked fine, went to start it the other day and...nothing. I thought I had no spark (because I was trying to ground out the plug on the carb instead of the...
