    Radiant Tube Heater Losing Efficiency

I had an opportunity to have a closer look at it last night. Couldn't find any type of filter on it but the intake is totally clear of obstructions and the fan is moving air well. The heater tubes are a continuous welded tube, so the only points of inspection will be the intake and exhaust...

    Radiant Tube Heater Losing Efficiency

The last few winters I'd been starting to suspect that my radiant tube heater has not been working as efficiently as in years past. It is a Superior Radiant Products GR45 (https://www.superiorradiant.com/products/residential-garage-heaters/series-gr) that was installed roughly 10 years ago. I...

    Quincy QT-54 vs QT-5

I finally had a chance to use it last night doing some sanding on my project truck. Didn't even hear it cut in over the noise of the dual action sander (wearing hearing protection) from 10' away. The cut out is a bit more noticeable. I'm thinking I'm going to do some upgrading to my air lines...

    Quincy QT-54 vs QT-5

I ended up going with the QT-5. Was late by time I got home and got the bobcat here to unload it. Hopefully get the pallet trimmed down and the motor wired in tomorrow. I'm eager to see how significant the upgrade is from the noisy old Iron Horse.

    Quincy QT-54 vs QT-5

As much as I'd like to find a stellar used unit, my options are severely limited in rural Saskatchewan. Quite honestly I was amazed to even find a quincy available.

These are both two stage compressors.

    Quincy QT-54 vs QT-5

I'll make this short and quick. Grenaded my old 60 gallon Iron Horse and am buying a new compressor today. Decided to pony up and buy the best available to me. Leaning towards the QT-5 due to less moving parts and slower running speed. Either one will outperform what I had, so volume and output...

Gave up on the permit/inspection process today.

As the last few have mentioned, I did start this whole process with a permit and the full intentions of seeing it through. My permit was due for renewal as it has been over a year since the first was issued. Had these delays not existed I could have had all the work done under the initial...

Gave up on the permit/inspection process today.

Thanks for the input regarding the drywall. I think we've got most of it covered. When we did the framing we put up an extra 2x4 on the inside of the first trusses to make sure we would have no issues at all finding a stud when the time came. Plus with the framing being about 10'1/2" (maybe a...

Gave up on the permit/inspection process today.

Thanks for the support on this guys. Phil, I haven't got a clue where you are coming from. If you think I could have had a contractor build the garage for the same price in the same time period, clearly you are just making assumptions. Like Ironcrow said, it would just be another person to have...

Gave up on the permit/inspection process today.

Yep. When we framed it we made it 10' 1/2". Did half of the roof tonight, takes a bit of work in some spots but for the most part the sheets are sliding in easy enough. I would have sooner done the roof first, but it is more of a 2 person job and I didn't have a second set of hands availible...

Gave up on the permit/inspection process today.

I finally had enough today and decided the finishing work on my garage is going ahead without a permit or the "mandatory" inspections. I tried to be a responsible homeowner and adhere to the city's permit and inspection process. Right from the get go it was nothing but a PITA and costed me a...

    Job/Workplace pictures

I'm not sure what open hole cable heads are capable of, but on our single conductor 5/16" cable, pullout will be just over 4300 pounds with 12 strands tied. That is the pullout strength at the cable head, the weight seen at surface would be 4300 plus line weight. Those Schlum trucks look like...
