gritsngumbo, that station is an exact copy of an old one here. Texaco must have had a standardized kit or something they used.

I'm kinda thinking any kind of sealer may have a hard time if there is oil soaked into the wood (like there is in most wooden work tables)... stain might look good and there may be something that will cover and protect ... maybe polyurethane or something. Cool bench !

I don't have one of their catalogs handy but you might check with McMaster - Carr ... they got just about everything.

Sometimes those notes get to rubbing together and WHOOSH ... spontaneous combustion.

Considering the triangle you are going to be working take a look at the Brenham area. Seems like it would be near equadistant between the three areas and is beautiful country, rolling hills with lots of woods and water.
