For the garage opener unit I made a new wire harness with these connectors:

The male one had to be made narrower with a file once removed from the plastic...
The opener had originally two cheap plastic lamp holders on the side. The problem was that it was not designed for CFLs. The thick body of CFLs did not allow to be screwed in deep enough to have an electrical contact inside the lamp holders. I solved this by adding a bit of solder to the CFL's...
Here is how I improved the lightning on my old garage door opener. Notice the use of CFL leftovers from upgrades to LEDs throughout the house.
There is never enough light, right?
I am not happy with 2" overlap of I-beam and concrete (notice too the layers of some material stack up between the concrete and I-beam) but what can I do to make it better?

From inside the garage, I see these bent nails from 2x6 over the edge of the I-beam. That seems to be all what holds the 2x6 filler in place...
Yes, that would be the best. Tear down the house and build a new one. Oftentimes it is easier to build it right than fixing things not done right at the 1st place. :-)
My plan was:
- install aluminum z-flashing
- tape over the top of the z-flashing with adhesive material (they sell rolls from 2 inches to about 10 inches of self adhesive flashing/film material)
- install a starter stip
- if possible tape over the nails (2" flashing tape)
- reinstall siding

I am not sure….It gets very cold to the touch.
I had some scrap pink Styrofoam laying around and I though it would be better to use it than adding to the city's landfill.
Hi,
I have a steel I-Beam over the garage door opening. How to properly insulate it?
I was thinking about cutting pink styrofoam boards to fit snug into the I-Beam opening. Either leaving an air capsule behind or blow in some insulation. Then painting over with latex paint.
Any thoughts...
