What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I organized one of my tool drawers with the olsa toolgrid system. I like it. More to come. Someone gave me the harbor freight gold plated wrenches. They are cute... And after that I installed 6mm aluminum skid plates on my 4x4 off-road vehicle. I had the big plate installed a few weeks...

    Giving away tools?

I'm considering updating my tools, specifically my old wrenches and my sockets. I have a full set of sae and metric wrenches, Craftsman from 25 years ago. I also have full sets of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 set sockets deep and shallow with ratchet handles that are 25 year old Craftsman gear. I am going...

    Racedeck floor - robot cleaner

Hi all, got my racedeck in -looks amazing. I'd like to get a robot to vacuum and maybe even mop the floors in the garage. I've used them on a tiled floor in a condo i used to live in and it worked well. I also like the idea of a robot running under the cars and the cabinets doing the cleaning...

Covid took a bite out of me, but the floor is in!

For your enjoyment this is a picture from the factory where it was built. The pic is from just before the war broke out. I also have a picture from a swedish daily newspaper with families taking kids out to the country side in these motorcycles during the summer. This pic is from the mid 40s...

Covid took a bite out of me, but the floor is in!

Hi, that is an motorcycle. Its a General Motors Electric Motorcycle built in 1942. This motorcycle was built at the GM factory in Stockholm, Sweden. The history of GM manufacturing in Europe includes that prior to the 50's american car manufacturing shipped engines and frames from Detroit to...

Covid took a bite out of me, but the floor is in!

Its not the tough shield, just the regular tiles. The tough shield was a bit too shiny for me (i ordered a bunch of colors first to see what i would like). I thought black was going to be great, but alloy and graphite was so much nicer in real world. I thought i would like blue or orange, but...

Covid took a bite out of me, but the floor is in!

A few more pics. Boxes that covid forced me to store n the garage because the recycling center and the dump is closed. Saving some space for a garage freezer, but those are sold out due to covid shutting down factories.

    Splicing to NASA Standards

The lineman's splice is what I learned thirty years ago when I went to EE undergraduate school. We also learned how to build cable harnesses using waxed string and tying cable knots. Old-school.... :)

    Just ordered my racedeck floor

Thanks. Is 1/4" enough on all sides or do I have to do 1/2"? I'm in northern California and it rarely gets below 40 or over 100 here. I'll put a safe, fridge and cabinets along the long wall. The cabinets and the fridge + safe will sit on the race deck floor. Any concerns?

    Just ordered my racedeck floor

I spent a fair amount of time with their floor designer app to get the pattern right. I ordered a bunch of tiles from them to test out my pattern and see how it would look like in the real world. Just ordered them, hopefully should get here next week. I'm not installing until the first weekend...

    Electric water heater

I just looked up my local codes. First 5 feet from the heater has to be insulated but they allow pex (this differs from the UPC). The drain can't create a trap, it has to fully drain (so down). And we have earthquakes so multiple straps. I personally would put this in a pan. They are cheap and...

    Cad/Cam for garage design

It would be nice if we could collaborate on 3D models for objects. I'd be happy to contribute mine. Hot tip: if you decide to download the software. First download Java SE. Whatever the latest version is (and set it to auto-update). This software is written in java and so much faster with the...
