I just purchased a 1945 Unisaw. The locking feature on the adjusting wheels didnt seem to work. I disassembled the saw for paint/bearings/lube etc and found the old wedge style.
As the image shows, for each adjusting wheel I have the knob, spring and two wedges. Is there an additional short rod...
Just a quick update on this.
Managed to get it picked up and transported back yesterday PM.
Lifted the lighter end of the lathe/cabinet and lowered on top a furniture dolly. Did the same at the heavier (very heavy) end and same. Once it was mobile, I carefully wheeled it out to the truck and...
A few more.
Please comment if there is anything of note in these photos as I am a complete newbie when it comes to these machines.
I expect I will be cleaning it up over the next few months. Oh, and I also scored a nice vise there too!!

I really appreciate the time you took to reply, many thanks.
This is my first lathe and so I am going to use it to get used to the fundamentals and then maybe add a newer machine in a year or so.
I will go research how to break this thing down using your post above as a guide.
Again...
I managed to get this lathe at a local auction for $150 and need to pick it up tomorrow. It came with a lot of tooling which I figured was worth the cost alone.
It is a Seneca Falls lathe. Does anyone has an idea on what this thing weighs?
Trying to work out how I will lift it and whether I...
So here is the deal.
I have started to get into casting aluminum pieces and realized pretty quickly I needed a mill to finish the pieces.
It seems that the Bridgeport is considered a top quality item and only now am I seeing there are differing levels in terms of capacity/quality etc. My bad...
Might be buying a nee toy and was wondering whether anyone had experience with Bridgeport mills and could ID this one.
I have been looking at some videos on YT relating to indexing the head for shipping but the head on this one looks a little different to those in the vids.
I have included a...
For what its worth here is my advice. I just put Epoxy Coat down on a 28x36 workshop. It came out great but was slow to harden. As of tomorrow it would have been down 2 weeks and I still don't want to put a vehicle on it.
I was able to walk on it the next day but finger nails still leave a...
I don't disagree but I have seen a lot of people have the same results with Epoxy Coat. Slow to cure.
I mixed it for almost 5 minutes to try to prevent the issue but got the same result.
Epoxy Coat states you can walk on it in 18 hours and vehicular traffic in 3 days but from experience that is not the case. This was laid last Sunday and I can still make an impression with a finger nail. There are numerous results if you search for expoxy coat drying time in G.
It is a good...
Finished. Happy with the final outcome but the Epoxy Coat barely covered 910 sq/ft despite their insistence it was good for 1000. In all honesty I owuldn't have minded having another 50% of the clear to ensure a mirror like finish. I might go at it again in the future, sanding the clear and...
