Anybody know how an alignment turnplate is constructed?

no, that's not true. My Rotary alignment rack front turnplates are carbon steel, not stainless. I rebuilt mine about 6 years ago and used Por 15 on the plates after stripping them.

    Hunter Alignment Machine G111

Oh boy that's an old unit. Most often you need to contact your local Hunter service rep but afaik that machine is really old. There was a thread on this forum back several years about a similar situation but there was talk of floppy discs which dates the system. Ps I hope you didn't...

Oscillating multi-tools, what can they be used for?

Not super relevant to most but in the race community (auto-x and hillclimb) we clean up our race tires with these tools to clean up OPR ( Other People's Rubber) your hot tires pick up from the course or if you go offline picking up what they call "marbles" of shredded race tire pieces. Because...

    PDM's 4 post lighting solution

So I've been thinking of effective methods to increase the visibility underneath my 4 post hoist for some time and quite honestly have been just getting by with typical reel lights and cordless hook lights for years. With the increase in popularity and cost effective light output of LED...

4 post hoist, how close to wall?

Are you 100% positive in that overall listed width ? Seems kind of wide... Here's my ground shot from floor base to the main post ( I have a 1 inch concrete footing sticking out the first 12 inches of my walls. My older 12k alignment hoist measures 127 inches outside post to outside...

    Exhaust venting hose

(Snip) I'm hoping for something with some sort of in-hose fan I can draw the fumes out, I don't need that headache (pun intended) (unsnip) For simplicity then I would run a squirrel cage fan underneath your garage door and **** out the fumes with an open window creating cross flow. (**** out...

    Lowering trailer

Can raise your trailer Jack at the same time as mentioned to assist in reducing the ramp angle. Raceramps do make these and are lightweight but not super cheap. https://www.raceramps.com/c/trailer/ Open wheel racers often run taller transport tires to get around rub issues and makes for less...

4 post hoist, how close to wall?

How skinny are you ? (No joke ) I had to narrow my shop by over 1 foot from my original plans due to property line setbacks and retained my 12k Rotary hoist in it's original position as I had designed my floor layout. Everything hinged on the placement of my hoists as we had to route and plot...

    Exhaust venting hose

Don't waste your time on drier hose or any other kind of cheap hose. Most industrial hose companies will carry high temperature crush free exhaust hose designed for venting exhaust fumes. I found my used exhaust hose online from a shop closure sale but honestly purchasing new is a whole lot...

What's on your walls? Neat storage ideas!

I've always liked fold out work tables to maximize useable floor space in any room or trailer I've designed so I knew I wanted several areas in my new shop to utilize these functional tables. Made a simple 2 x 6 frame I fastened to 3/4 backing plywood I had 2 leftover New Age stainless...

What's on your walls? Neat storage ideas!

Its the door vendor supplied self adhesive silver backed foam insulation. I'm pretty sure you can purchase this product in 3 foot width rolls at most big box stores. I've had my 3 overhead doors for almost 3 years now and they get used daily with no adhesion issues on the insulation. I...

What's on your walls? Neat storage ideas!

My entire garage and machine shop are radiant heated so I had concerns about drilling and bolting down my shop equipment. Solution was to wall mount my small equipment. Recycled some tubing and the old grinder stand to fabricate my dual grinder stand. Painted to match my shop colours...

    Taller than standard jack stands

I have similar Camco stands like the Esco units shown and I've placed my 6500 lb. Camper on them with zero concerns.

What's on your walls? Neat storage ideas!

Common dead space is the small gap between overhead doors. My solution to maximize efficiency and store jackstands off the ground was this simple metal wall storage unit I fabricated from angle iron. Quick blast of paint and cut up some Baltic birch marine pky and varnished them for...

Need advice on paint for a car lift.

Just make sure you feather out any remaining paint... and prime with a good etching primer AFTER properly degreasing the metal (I always use Tumbler or silicone polish remover before repainting) For top coat I just used a quality rust paint on my Rotary 4 post alignment hoist when I set it up...
