Full line Craftsman at my Ace Hardware

Hey everyone. for the last few months, my local owned ace hardware had gimick craftsman tools usually on sale or promotion. That all changed when i went to browse the store yesterday and to my amazement a good 50% of the hand tools were craftsman. Not to mention, drill bits, open stock mechs...

    Dura-Block Air tools

i purchased the dura block 3 in cutoff saw from farm and fleet. i think it was more than able to do the job. they seem to look like alot of the other import air tools on the market right now. i was satisfied.

    Anyone have a home-made buffer/polisher?

Yea, Ive had good luck using a arbor for wire brushes and the like on electric motors. one thing to consider is you will only be able to use it on one side of the motor because one arbor has to be reverse threaded or else the nut will spin off in use.

    Power tool grease?

i like to use a mix of 30wt oil and stp. seems to stick to everything for a long time.

Ace Hardware to carry Craftsman Tools.

in my town we have an awesome discount store called PAULS. anywho, they carry ace brand tools and hardware for some reason. the other day i noticed they had a very, very, very small assortment of craftsman tools. I think there was a drill kit, spline wrenches, and a mechanics tool kit on the...

Would you buy a DREMEL tool?

I have the dremel xpr i got as a gift a few years ago. if i had to buy one now, i wouldnt spend near as much as i dont i have a great need for one. to me, the bits are too expensive and poor quality. whatever model you choose, i would look into a flex shaft as they make handling a little easier.

    Cleaning Files and Rasps

Hmmm. The only thing i can think is to switch to a coarser file for the heavy work. is the one you are using single cut, double cut, or mill? as for cleaning them out, i like to use a file card and go at an angle across the file. that seems to work very good for metal shavings.

    Stihl Chainsaws

Yea, all i can say is: pro or consumer depends on how you are gonna treat the saws. I know some homeowners think they gotta have pro grade even though they could get by with consumer. reason being, they treat the equipment like **** then piss and moan when it breaks early. In some cases, they...

HF boxes & Hansen "type" trays back on sale

Socket trays. Yep, for the price you cant pass em up. Although, i chose not to use the 1/2 tray because alot of my sockets didnt fit. As for the 3/8 and 1/4, they work great, but in sae theres some sizes not made by anyone? (1/4 drive above 9/16) and (3/8 drive above 1 inch). instead, i used...

    Manly Sledge

IMO, i think the lighter tool/higher velocity really only applies to splitting wood where as you want to swing thru the object. when you are busting concrete, your trying to hit hard and impact alot of force on the concrete. in a case where the object doesnt "give", the amount the tool bounces...

Do yall believe in shop GREMLINS?

My grandfather didnt die in the house but i think hes still in my grandmothers house. in the basement was his workshop and one day i went looking for the electric drill and couldnt find it. well i looked all over and came back to the bench, and there it was right in the center of the bench...

    Penetrating oil comparisons

i think heat is the great equalizer when it comes to penetrating oil. im not talking much, but enough when theres just alittle smoke and the oil soaks in the threads. works 90% of the time.

    Spline "point" wrenches/sockets?

Ok, seems like alot of companies are selling spline wrenches and sockets. its said that they will fit all types of head shapes. how do they perform. i had an experience with a friends set where the nut got jammed in the socket because the fit was poor. on a side note, those sockets fit sae...
