Both have their purpose. For fluid change and other work ramps are fine. If your doing wheel bearings and tire work, jack stands would be a better choice.
I like my 1/4 & 3/8 stuff I. The chrome when using hand tools. The 1/2" stuff I don't care. I. Almost all cases when your using 1/2" your not worried about the socket being to fat.

Each as pros and cons. Chrome is much easier to clean and durable. Comfort grips are ready on the hand and don't feel as cold or hot as chrome can. I have both and use both.

I like the Wiha drivers. I have a set in my computer tool kit bag. They
