I think the ,Knipex Cobra pliers will be ideal, for this job. When they lock on you only have to use top handle. You could slip a cheater over the handle, then take it off, when part is loosened. This clip shows it better, than I can explain. For the record ,I am not a Knipex fan boy.

I have done the same. I fix farm equipment and heavy equipment. When you're out in the field, with no air tools, you have to do what's necessary, to get that nut or bolt moving. You are under pressure to get that machine fixed, if there is an operation or crew on hold waiting till you fix...
