    My garage is a swamp!

This. 1. Seal/insulate and condition the space with an ERV 2. Or heat the space on cold nights 3. Or keep enough low and high vents open all the time to help normalize the indoor air to that of the outdoor air. Do you know if the concrete pad had plastic sheeting installed under it? It could...

My Harbor Freight 20 Ton Shop Press 60603

I have the 60603 and rarely use it. One reason is the air/hydraulic 20T jack I put on it (also HF) has a release valve that does not seal, or stay sealed. You have to hold it shut while you are using it or it will back out just enough to lose pressure. Anyone have a solution for this? I will be...

Retrofit a drain in existing garage slab

Howdy all - I have a 20x36 garage that is under the 2nd story of my house, but is slab-on-grade. The slab is in good/great condition, but was not poured to drain in any particular direction...except maybe toward the walls. :headscrat What are my options here? Trench drains parallel to the long...

    The Best Light Fixture Ever!

I stumbled upon a great deal on these Hyperikons from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012ENQPXQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I payed about half what they are asking now. Not sure how that happened, I guess I searched for them on the right day! Anyway, these are fantastic. My garage is 20 X 40, and...

    6' vs 8' workbench?

How much space do you have? That matters. My garage is used for everything from parking 2 cars, to woodworking, to welding, to motorcycle parking and maintenance, to storage for our stuff (house has very little storage room, and no basement). Due to this, my new bench will be about 6' x 2.5'...

    The Q shop

Got the door secured today with two heavy-duty hooks and a sliding bolt for security. I think a few well-placed jamb brushes to keep the snow and bugs out, and it's a wrap!

    The Q shop

Spent 10 hours today making this sliding door. This will make getting yard machines in and out easy, and will not require backing out one or both cars. Still need to secure it somehow, and make it as mouse-proof as possible. It turned out well, I think! What a great day in the shop. No...

    New shop press "bangs" downward

Thanks for all the smart replies. I appreciate it. I did the other control arm today, and spent more time cleaning the bushing seat in the control arm, and use more grease on both parts (bushing and seat). Everything went together smoothly...no banging. I think the next step is to find or...

    New shop press "bangs" downward

OK cool. I was expecting the opposite response - that it was a problem with the jack itself. I did try to clean the mating surfaces of the arm and the bushing before pressing, and even applied a very light coating of grease. Thanks!

    New shop press "bangs" downward

OK, so I drank the coolaid and bought the 60603 20-ton shop press from HF. It's not a high-quality unit, I get that. For $150, it should at least do the crude bushing/bearing work that I'll need it to do. That said, I got it all set up, and put my first project on it over the weekend. The...

Adding on to existing pole building

Hello GJ friends. I have a 24x30x10 pole building that I'd like to add on to. The 24' side is the gable end, and I want to build off that end (opposite the main 16' overhead door). This space will be used for storage of a 16' camper (that is about 9 feet tall at it's tallest point, and doesn't...
