Going to machining class is downright painful

How many tried to use their hands to stop the piece from spinning?

    Garage Door Insulation Options

Home Depot, Lowes, etc. sell foam inserts. IIRC they sell fancy foil wrapped ones as well.

    dumb electrical question

Going to give it a whirl tomorrow... I'm running an ext. cord through the house (kitchen is off of the garage) to check it out. Not sure how or why the frige would be bad... It's a fairly expensive model that's only a few years old and ran like a champ before we moved. :headscrat I'm...

    dumb electrical question

Thank you Charles. The house is about 9 months old, and I wouldn't think the GFI to be bad... Unfortunately the only outlet in my garage is tied to the GFI. One reason I cleaned up/out the frige is to stock it for the upcoming garage remodel.... bummer. I'll take a look to see if there is...

    Fluorescent lighting

I picked up some of the $8 fixtures from HD about 2 years ago. I went back to get 2 more and an associate was pulling them off of the shelves... He wouldn't / couldn't sell me 2 matching lights. They were recalled for some reason. I eventually took the $8 lights down because they would fry...

    dumb electrical question

I recently cleaned out an old frige that had been sitting around for over a year. I plugged it in after cleaning and it ran fine all night, and into the next day. But that afternoon the refrigerator started kicking the GFI... I unplugged it, reset the GFI... Plugged it back in and the gfi...

Looks awesome. The grind walls are a nice looking, yet functional addition. (I'll add these to my shopping list) : )

    Newbie workbench / garage question

This is a great idea. Something I probably should have had the builder do when the house was being built.... When I build shelving I will leave a space to put a door eventually... As far as rodents.... I wil probably need to look into lockable / covered storage of some sort for the trash...

    Newbie workbench / garage question

The ceiling is completely drywalled with a small 3' x 3' opening to the attic that has a piece of drywall for a 'hatch'. I thought about purchasing an 'attic ladder' from Lowes or Home Depot so it will be closed when not in use to keep fumes at bay. I will look at the dos and don'ts before I...

    Newbie workbench / garage question

The attic will probably only hold some coolers, a few light weight spare parts for the Jeep (fender flares, lights, etc) I will look to see if I've got 16" or 24" oc. I never thought of this.... The walls that share with living space are already drywalled / insulated. I have to tear some...

    Newbie workbench / garage question

I should have explained better. The 3" drop is from the rear part of the garage spanned over the 24' length of the garage. Thank you for the advise. Making a base out of 2x6 sounds like a pretty sturdy plan. I would like to make the workbench 'foundation' sturdy.

    Newbie workbench / garage question

My wife and I just purchased a new home with a 3 car attached. IIRC the measurements are 32 wide, 23 deep, 11' ceilings, 8' tall doors. It's a basic, unfinished garage. No insulation in the ceiling, walls are bare studs, doors are uninsulated. I plan on starting a minimal garage refinish...

    Insulating Garage Doors

I noticed this on my garage as well. I am going to try to seal mine up with a rubber flap... But am looking for alternatives.
