    craftsman wrenches, USA for long?

My concern isn't jobs for Americans (as if massive immigration isn't pushing out that already) but the ability of the USA to manufacture what it needs. The more we rely on anywhere else to make what we need, the less independent we are as a country. Dependence on imports is, to my mind, a very...

Why are people Knuts for Knipex?

It boggles my mind that anyone could imagine the quality of a tool is diminished by who sells it. There is a non sequitur there that I cannot fathom. RB

What are these larger size sockets used for?

I've got a 1-1/2 I needed for my Harley. It's a 3/4 drive socket but I used adapters to allow me to use a 3/8 ratchet - kinda not the best solution. Now I've got some 1/2 drive ratchets, but not the bike. RB

I'm trading in my craftsman stuff.

Does this make any sense or any difference? After I got my first 3/8 drive Proto ratchet, I was comparing it to a basic raised panel Craftsman ratchet I have. If I "wind" the ratchet around and around so it clicks on the gear, the Proto clicks like normal - click-click-click-click very clear and...

I'm trading in my craftsman stuff.

There's a bunch of Proto big dawg ratchets for sale on ebay. Not 1/4 drives, maybe but 3/8 and 1/2. This seller is very fast and he packages the tools very carefully. He's got a lot of 3/8 standards available. I really like these Big Dawgs. These pups are industrial strength. RB

    Proto ****

Proto Big Dawgs belong in a museum of design. Since discovering them here on GJ I've bought 3/8 and 1/2 drive BDs, standard length in chrome and long handle in oxide. RB

    Stanley buys Black and Decker?

So who owns who in the power tool trade? I had a mid-2000s Porter Cable cordless drill (ex-GF now has it) and have a German made Bosch corded drill from the 1990s. I've been looking at power tools at Home Depot and Menards, and Bosch and Milwaukee always stand out for me. RB

    Proto Big Dawgs on eBay

Well, I just clicked on a buy-now for the pair of 1/2 drives for $35 and free shipping. I tried to pay through paypal and it hangs at the page where you put in your password. So I went direct to ppal and tried that route. After putting in my pword I get a screen saying "for security" they want...
