    Blocking rust after evaporust?

The Heller hammer is one of my favs, it is a 4oz. Feels great in the hand. I have a blue point 12oz and a Vaughn 16oz that get all the action. Looking at the hammers today, the CRC 3-36 is in my top 2, as it has a non greasy, sheen finish. I like Fluid Film and the CRC the best. Regardless, any...

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

The WD40 is thick, as shown below. The marks are from my finger, attempting to smooth it out.

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

I made a trip out to Home Depot. Found a few things to try. It wasn’t a special trip as I was in need of a fly swatter and my wife needed bird seed. I sprayed a few of my ball peen hammers. I like the fluid film, and the PB Blaster the best. Both have the same finish. I haven’t looked at them...

That is what I’m after. Protection but don’t want a ratchet that is slippery.

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

Cosmoline is what rust veto had listed on the description. I will look into CRC. Does it leave a slippery feeling? In my mind varnish is quite grippy once dry.

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

Haha. I like it. It looks like my local auto zone carries it so I will give it a try for sure.

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

What is the finished feel of fluid film? Is it slippery as WD40 would be? I want to find something that is dry, but offers protection.

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

Looks similar to anodizing at home, which I have not done, but seems pretty cool to me. Once the power supply is sourced, seems like you could nickel plate for cheap. Thanks for the video!!

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

I am curious about this process as well. If the end result is a durable coating with a shine!!

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

I think that might be the ticket for a lot of items that I keep. The other aspect for example is the hammer for my dad, it will be out of sight out of mind regarding rust. That is why I thought something that could be sprayed on might offer the best results in that scenario. I will for sure get...

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

Thanks Jrad, good info. I did find the Lee Valley Tool Wax. I am sure you are correct and a ceramic coating would work also, like the one used on wheels. I will probably go the Carnauba route as that is much more readily available for myself.

    Blocking rust after evaporust?

Based on the thread topic, this might be the better audience, compared to my other post in the polishers haven thread. I did a hammer for my dad last fathers day, polished the head. I saw the hammer over this weekend and he had not put any oil on it. Which lead to rust spots. I plan on...

    BEFORE & AFTER....A Tool Polisher's Haven

Very impressive polishing skills, I don't have anything that I have polished recently, but I did a hammer for my dad last fathers day. I saw the hammer over this weekend and he had not put any oil on it. Which lead to rust spots. I plan on repolishing it for him but in an effort to keep things...

    Cutting welded inside corner

Well it took Noah 40, but for the task at hand I’m thinking 3 days max.

    Cutting welded inside corner

To remove those welds I would get a bandfile sander like the one below. HF cheap option, but they do make nicer and pneumatic ones. I have gotten mine in some pretty tight spaces. I feel you would weaken that weld enough to then bend it up and down until the weld lets loose. Essentially you want...
