    bringing drop up to code

As would I, if I was lineman. No Way would I want liability for that. Of course, I do not think many companies care. Shortest amount of time on repair

    bringing drop up to code

Thanks for the replies. It is actually my neighbors. His Dad owns the place but lives out of town. This happened Monday, and they were swimming in the pool Tuesday. The drop is laying alongside the top rail of the chain link fence around the pool. I am fed from the same transformer...

    bringing drop up to code

Had storm damage. Power company is supposed to come and fix. My question is - will it have to be brought up to code ? Meter is 10 feet from pool

    POCO disconnect at Transformer ?

I guess the only real reason is to shorten the entrance cable inside the box or top feed the existing box if possible

    POCO disconnect at Transformer ?

I don't have a good answer. The only advantages of a new panel would be to shorten the unfused length of the service entrance wire, gain more physical space inside the box for ease of working in it, gain slack in the incoming wiring by going to a taller box, and maybe change the 1/2 space...

    POCO disconnect at Transformer ?

I want to thank everyone for their help. I have an estimate to replace panel with an Eaton ch and two ground rods. Awaiting word as to if the company will install new GE panel so I can reuse breakers. Would y'all elect to spend the additional 300 or so and just go Eaton with new breakers over...

    POCO disconnect at Transformer ?

Just wondering because two leads in the meter base would still be hot with the meter out. Hypothetically, was moving eq grounds in the panel and one got too close to the incoming feeds. Was the original electrician sloppy or do you suppose they backed out of the breaker ?

    POCO disconnect at Transformer ?

The general method it to pull the meter, but could they not also pull the fuse on the incoming line at the transformer ? Seems like this would de-energize the entire meter socket and thus be safer.

    Residential power dist panel

No lock, but it is a AMR (wireless) read meter. Power company will know it it out. I will check into the permit requirements to DIY. I may just install a ground bar and move the uninsulated's. I may be looking for a problem where none exists.

    Residential power dist panel

I probably need a permit and take a quiz to be able to do the work. Electric co has not responded as to the details. Basically panel change out 1500.00. I am going to call around tomorrow for more estimates. I could do the work. Pulling meter would be the hard part( and getting them to retag it)

    Residential power dist panel

The ground bar is slightly too long for the mounting holes in the box. This is odd because the part number matches what is on the door panel as an accessory. The meter is directly behind the panel on what was the outside wall. No real room for a disconnect. Awaiting info from electrician as to...

    Residential power dist panel

I thought that was high also. I will have to call them. I do not know the make of the panel or if they are going to bring it up to code with gfci and arc breakers.
