I thought I would post it here. More for interest than any other reason. No affiliation w/ seller. It's cool but there's no way I could justify the $.

There are some machines (like pre-1900 with original paint) that shouldn't be modified or even overly restored but most machines' value is in the use you get from them, not in collector or historical value.
Variable speed on a drill press is a very nice upgrade and is easy to convert back to a...
On the DP motor it could be a bad capacitor or it could be mis-wired for 220 on a 120 plug.
Those are two common things with older tools.
I don't believe bearings should be $80 each. They should be a pretty standard size and more likely closer to $8.00 each.
Take a look over at OWWM.org and...
Thought it seemed high but I don't know enough to know. I think that's the first metal one like it that I've seen since I've become interested in old tools. I would guess not too many have survived over the years.
I saw this while I was playing on Craigslist. It looked like something you guys would be interested in. No idea of actual value.

looks like the prep work is going well.
I wonder if it's a case of McAleer got the contract then farmed some of them out to meet the demand? That would explain the basic design being the same but not having the stamp.

I think Lloyd Moore was a previous owner. The tag is a different material and design than the manufacturer's tag and the fasteners are different too.
I can't help with rarity or value but it's a great find.
I saw this while playing on Craig's List. Looked like it might be of interest to members here.

I like the old displays too. Just nowhere to put them and old woodworking tools is more my speed anyway. Old wrenches is a rabbit hole I don't need to fall down.
No affiliation with seller. I just thought I would share them here in case anyone is interested.

Have you looked at VintageMachinery.org? Check under Craftsman and Parks, there might be a manual there. You can also ask at OWWM.org. Someone there will probably know if you don't get the answers you need here.
I'm pretty sure he didn't mean on the striking surfaces of the hammer. I'm not sure if the bondo would stand up to repeated shocks even without directly hitting it but it sounds like he's after a clean, smooth wall hanger painted the original color, not a user.
