Thought it seemed high but I don't know enough to know. I think that's the first metal one like it that I've seen since I've become interested in old tools. I would guess not too many have survived over the years.

I think Lloyd Moore was a previous owner. The tag is a different material and design than the manufacturer's tag and the fasteners are different too. I can't help with rarity or value but it's a great find.

Have you looked at VintageMachinery.org? Check under Craftsman and Parks, there might be a manual there. You can also ask at OWWM.org. Someone there will probably know if you don't get the answers you need here.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean on the striking surfaces of the hammer. I'm not sure if the bondo would stand up to repeated shocks even without directly hitting it but it sounds like he's after a clean, smooth wall hanger painted the original color, not a user.
