How much extra is it to fix the slab? If it were me, I'd hold off until the budget allows. It sounds like you're not going to be happy with the scissor lift in the long run.
I'm using the Craftsman socket rails for my regular sockets, but I'm not too happy with the setup as-is. I think I'm going to finish out the set and do a mass reorganization after that.

I like it, but I have two suggestions:
I'd add a door so you can get to the garage from upstairs without going outside. To a lesser degree, I'd add a door between the bedroom and the bathroom.
I think the $20k price increase negates the efficiency argument. Besides, look at it this way: At 2000 sq ft, a two-story house will give you a 1000 sq ft shop in the basement. Build a single-story house and it doubles.
I'm with kbs2244; my parents park their RV at a secured lot for a few bucks a month--probably cheaper in the long run.

The wiper linkage on my '85 BMW needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, there is exactly one way to remove it and there's about a millimeter of clearance to do it. That project started in June and I'm still working on it. Once that's done, it's time to start about 500 other things on the list...
