    Service doors

The block guy left me with a 38 wide by 88 tall opening. I have no idea why.

Can anyone recommend someplace that makes custom steel frame/doors? This would be the service or man door not the garage door itself

Brewchief, thank you. ddawg16, well I hope all is well with you now. My wife will be on chemo or some form of treatment the rest of her life. Its a rough road for both of us. The 2nd floor of this garage was built for her to have an art and quilting studio. Just trying to get done so she can...

    Electrical Install

Guys thanks for all the replies. Sometimes things get put on the back burner when your wife has cancer. OK so I made the electricians pull that cable out and we agreed that I was not paying for it. They have now installed 3 #6 from garage to house, THWN. Hooked up in garage panel as 2 hots and a...

    Electrical Install

PCustoms, The run is about 80ft total Electrical is gonna try to meet inspector to ask why this is no longer acceptable. He says they have done hundreds of garages like this and no inspection issues. If NM-B cannot be used underground, even in PVC conduit, then I guess they are gonna have to...

    Electrical Install

Ok, Let me ask this simple question first before I get into more details. Installing a 60 amp subpanel in garage. we ran 2 inch PVC from house to garage over 2ft deep. The electrical pulled in a 6-3 with ground. It is a Romex type NM-B. Inspector says they cannot do that because there is a...

    Electrical Needs for garage

In the process of buildinga 24 x 28 garage with full 2nd floor. This will be my wifes art/quilting studio. I plan to install a mini split for heat and air for her. Other than that she wont have a lot of electrical demand up there. Our house has a 100 amp service. Was wondering what size panel...

    Service Door Help

Thanks. I have 2 other masons ready to go with me to state that the guy put the header in wrong. Even I know it was put in wrong. I guess he didnt understand the big letters at the top saying TOP. All I am asking is for what it costs me to have it done right.

    Service Door Help

First one to answer correctly as far as Im concerned. Yes the other one he did not install is marked TOP on the top edge of it. It should have been mounted 90 degrees up so that he word TOP would be hidden in the mortar. My contractor called the mason an idiot for not acknowledging that he put...

    Service Door Help

This is what my block layer left me with. Says I didnt say I wanted a steel frame door. I say he didnt ask. Either way the rough opening is 88 inches tall. Clearly the header is wrong. Sorry for the post yesterday on this asking how to fix it. I couldnt figure out how to delete that...

    Insulation suggestions

We are nearing the insulating phase of our new garage. here is what we have. It is 24W by 28D. The first floor is block. the 2nd floor is a full 2nd floor with 8ft 2 x 6 stud walls. This floor will be my wifes art/quilting studio. She wants exposed roof trusses though. We are going to...

Steel beam or wood I joists?

Sounds like what I am wanting to do. 24 ft span. Block guy installed beam pockets just in case I went with steel. There is going to likely be some dead weight storage up on the 2nd floor as well. Doing it your way I would be spanning 24 ft but with a steel beam I would also have to install...
