    Electrical Advice needed...

I just already have a 100amp breaker for the main panel and my sub breaker box came with a 100amp...so I'll have a breaker on both ends even though I know it's not required. I just want to have the control. I probably won't ever max 100amps. I'm just running a garage, a bed room, media room...

    Electrical Advice needed...

As stated, 2-2-2-4 Aluminum is only rated at 90amps. I was originally looking at copper, which in some charts I saw stated that it was 100-110amp max. I may be looking at 1-1-1-3 or 1/0-1/0-1/0-2 to compare with copper instead.

    Electrical Advice needed...

It's probably a total of 60-70 feet counting vertical travel. I rounded up to 80 feet in case I decide to take it through the attic instead of the crawlspace. I've not decided the best path yet. I don't want to use aluminum indoors at all. The problem is I don't seem to have many...

    Electrical Advice needed...

    1. This is what they had at Lowes for $1.49 a foot... I couldn't find it on their website, but I was told the mobile home feeder cable that's not wrapped would have to be run in conduit. That's what I needed clarification on...I'd like to avoid dealing with an 80 foot run of conduit with thick...

    Electrical Advice needed...

I just got my permit to do the electrical work on my garage project. This is an attached garage. My main panel is 200amp that I've shrunk over the years. I've removed 6 double breakers by switching to gas for my range/water heater and upgrading my hvac system (removed 4 that way) Question...

I got garage doors today. Gap at bottom...What to do?

They came out and dropped the track on the side that wasn't making full contact. When it was installed, they had about an inch gap at the bottom to better square the door. Dropping it a half to 3/4 of an inch sealed the bottom much better. Now the only light is coming out the sides of the...

Need more garage space and work space too

I just built a 30' x 30' attached garage with an upstairs. I used 16" I-Joists on 12" centers. It turns out that over the 30' span, the center of the I-Joists dip about 5/8" in the center of the room. There is a bounce to the floor....it's not too bad, but should tighten up a little after I...

    Concrete Curing 32x48, 6" slab

I just had one poured a month ago. I ordered 4000 with midrange added to it. I didn't do fibers in it because I had used steel to provide a grid for my pex (radiant heat). I've not seen one crack yet....It's 6-8" thick. I had it poured thicker in the back to allow proper drainage to my floor...

How do you guys do it?

I second the yard building. I actually have a rule about keeping gasoline and other combustibles in the garage as well. So I keep my lawn equipment outside unless I'm working on it. As for garage storage, it's important design the proper lighting and try to maximize overhead storage where...

    Garage door opener problem

I'm not certain the truck is the source of the interference. There could be interference coming from the alternator or computer. I'm not sure if you could throw a capacitor somewhere in the line or check to make sure there's not something wrong with grounding. The other idea I had about wifi...

    Garage door opener problem

Can you get your truck resprayed with some lead-based paint? :D Are there any other electronics in your car that could be affecting the particular range of the opener and jamming the signal? Do you have the factory radio or an aftermarket? Any new appliances in the house that might be...

    Moisture: my main concern

There are a couple of issues with dehumidifiers. They're most effective if the building is sealed well to the outside....so you're not dehumidifying outside air. I'm not sure how big they are, but a typical whole-house unit should be 75 qt/day or larger. I'm just telling you this so you can...

    garage door gap

Also, if you have a garage door opener and the door tracks are as close to the jam as they can be, the J-arm that extends to the door can sometimes be adjusted to put more pressure on the door and close small gaps.

I got garage doors today. Gap at bottom...What to do?

I realized the second picture didn't upload properly. I'm looking forward to hearing from the company tonight. I wish I had been available yesterday when they did the install. The doors feel solid though.

I got garage doors today. Gap at bottom...What to do?

Yeah....new construction. The door is level and the tracks follow the 2x6 framing, so I assume they're plumb. I know this door doesn't close as easily as the other one....but both freely slide down the track. It just has slightly more resistance in the last foot of track.
