Great point on the larger neutral and larger conduit. And yes I wish badly that the previous owner had upsized the conduit, but one 70' run was already place when I took ownership and they have left TONS of new 1/2 pipe and fittings to finish the job.
I think I got you guys thinking I was gonna actually run 9 wires in a 1/2 conduit, that is definitely not my intention. The panel is located in one front corner of the shop where all the heavy loads i.e. welder, air compressor will run off their own circuits not in the 1/2 conduit run.
This is...
Just getting ready to start wiring my shop and needing some advice on proper techniques in dealing with long runs and conduit. The shop is 40' x 72' and wanting outlets all the way around the while shop. The breaker panel is located in the front where my main work area will be and most of the...
I just installed a subpanel for my basement (attached structure) and have a few questions.
1. The feeder wire (2-2-2-4 AL with thermal insulation) is a 60' run. Am I correct that it falls in the 60C and needs to be breakered at 75 amps?
2. When hooking up service the ground and neutral are...
Today I got my first estimate. The guy was fairly certain the unit could be reconfigured to sit upright but may need parts to do so. He quoted $1500-2000 to do it all or 600-800 if I removed it from the crawl space so would be ready to start building the new ductwork. Of course he would come out...
I have an odd question. Before I get a professional to come give me a quote, I would like to get some advice from someone who know a little something about HVAC systems and what they think would be a reasonable quote to do what I would like.
I bought this walkout basement house which was built...
That is the exact panel and wire I ran in my shop last year. I definitely dont need 20 spaces, nor did I in the shop, but at that price it is hard to beat.
I would like to install a 60A sub panel in the basement for general lighting and outlets. I have a 200A panel in the garage which I plan on replacing at the same time I install the subpanel...I'm out of spaces and need more for future "expansion". Here are my questions...
1. How big of a feeder...
It won't be a problem in my county. I live out in the sticks and and there is not much enforcement of anything. In fact, we dont' have any sort of code. Plus, when we had an ice storm in '07 they pulled my meter so I could run a generator without backfeeding and the guy from the PoCo gave me...
Curiosity got the best of me. Went and pulled the cover its a Cutler-Hammer BR3040, so 30 spaces, 40 circuits. The only problem is they hung the panel upside down (buried feeder enters panel from the ground) and the forked stabs are at the top and used on all the tandem breakers (dryer, well...
I have always wondered how a panel could have more circuits than spaces...learn something new every day. I would probably not find a part number since whoever did the drywall texture did'nt bother to cover the panel before he started. I know it is a Cutler-Hammer and has 30 spaces and a 200A...
