Will concrete dust ruin my shop vac?

I used my shopvac w/o issue. I used an angle grinder for a small section and then connected the shop vac directly to a shot blaster I rented from Home Depot. I cleaned the shop vac out a few times though.

    EpoxyMaster, aka Costco brand

So far so good, no problems of any sort. My garage is residential so only foot traffic - not industrial use. It looks great and it was the perfect product for me.

    Off the floor storage

Jamie, I am in the process of moving into a house. I was lucky enough to start with a clean slate. The racks are Hyloft, about $70 a piece from Lowes or Home Depot. 4 of the racks are mounted under the garage door and not visible when up. I also added some accessory holders to the racks...

    Kobalt 3 drawer workbench - reduced price - $135

I picked this up last night. Have not put it together yet, but I think it will serve me well for my residential garage and household projects. Lowes reduced the price from $189 to $135 (their website says $159 but it checked out as $135 Yesterday- you should call in advance and see if still...

Best way to prep stem walls

I just hit mine with the angle grinder, but like JD said they are pourous enough and do not need too much prep. Also, they wont take any wear and tear.

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

Git, for my 3 car garage I only used one bucket of shot. You can reuse the shot as go, you get a magnetic broom with the rental and follow behind the blaster - you pick up the shot and reuse it as you go. I also reused the shot that I picked up in my shop vac - just pulled it out with the...

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

Alpha - the Home Depot shot blaster I rented had what looked like a Matabo grinder as the guts to the machine.

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

Forgot to mention, I did get a qoute from a contractor to prep my floor for epoxy - about a $1 per foot! So about $700 for my garage. I am certain I did a better job since I went over every inch of the garage myself. Dont have any pics of the floor before epoxy but, here is an after pic...

Buying a grinder versus renting a shot blaster

Git, I did both. My floor had latex paint on 2/3rds or 400 sq feet. I tried the angle grinder first with the diamond bit. Yes it worked - but it kicked up alot of dust and was slow and painfull. I took me about 4 hours to about 40 square feet. My results with the angled grinder were not...

    EpoxyMaster, aka Costco brand

It was my first time using a shotblaster. I had great results. I did not get any corn rows, I just took it slow and went over the paint. If I did not hace paint on the floor I would not have need the blaster. I tried using an angle grinder first with a diamond bit, but the was slow going...

    Ready to Apply the Epoxy

I used EpoxyMaster and loved the results. I used a respirator and goolgles when I prepped the floor. Since I was sanding and blasting the concrete, I had a lot of concrete dust and particle flying around. I had a shop vac going to entire and pretty good cross vetilation as well.
