    Shop vac or dust collector?

I recently picked up a new central vac unit for a song. Plan on putting it in the attic then plumbing the inlet into a shop wall mounted canister with a dust deputy cyclone mounted to it. Also a 50 foot garage shop hose. No noise from the vacume unit (in the attic)...cheap to put...

    Welders.....Need some help

I have never had a wish I hadn't moment if I buy something of quality. Look at the Miller 211. Not huge but substantial. Dual voltage which is handy. Auto set option. High quality and easy to get parts or service everywhere. 1/3 more in price but ×3 or more in quality = value. Gordon S.

    Shop central vac

Stumbled across a Hover central vac unit on Craigs List the other night. New...scratch and dent (one small ding) picked it up for 65 bucks. Plan to mount it and add a Dust Deputy cyclone on a secondary cannister and vent the outlet outside. Simple surface mount line and a couple outlets...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Your biggest issue is as voltage drops the amps go up so very hard on electrical components. ..start capacitors etc. I'd change the recepticials first...not because I know about electrical. ..just because its easy and cheap and eliminates that as a...

    Shop storage / project boxes

Home Depot has clear plastic boxes called "shoe boxes" which happen to be about shoe box size for .99 each. You can see what's inside. Snap on lid and stack. Good deal. .. Gordon S.

    Choosing a welder?

Earlier this year I upgraded my mig and got the Miller 211 dual voltage auto set. Its been great so far. Running it on 220 but nice to have that 110 just in case I am someplace minus 220. Haven't used the auto set option yet. I feel like a pro when I twist the knobs myself. Gordon S.

    Koken barber chair rebuild

BTW...traded our old washer and dryer for this chair 18 years ago. Was going ti scrap them brcause washer drum had a crack in it and both about 15 years old. Thunk through a long list of shop projects in this chair. Drank many a beer and a few good snoozes as well. Gordon S.

    Koken barber chair rebuild

Its all there except the very end of the lift handle. Needs a strip down and general clean up. Reupholstered seat and rebuild of the lift cylinder and pump. Big expense will be redoing the nickel plating. Figure if I can't locate the missing handle I can simply turn on on a lathe. Gordon S.

    Price of cordless batteries?

You notice the cordless electric tool world is getting similar to the ink jet printer world? You can buy a complete new drill kit almost for the price of a battery? And why don't they all just interchange? Gordon S.

Drill doctor sharpener, worth the money?

I have the DD Pro. Love it. Not sure why anyone thinks it takes a long time to sharpen a bit with one unless they are using it wrong. Gordon S.
